My brother used Industrial Epoxy to fill the cracks and missing chunks on his older mustang steering wheel. Although his steering wheel was simple and didnt have any of the decorative chrome pieces.

Might have one that’s brown if you’d be interested…need to find it/dig it out but it’s that same style, would only need to be painted to match. It’s complete with no cracks, car it came out of has 58k original miles. PM me if interested and I can send you some pics.

One option would be if you went to a non-limited stock steering wheel from a regal. It doesn't have that inlay. And, they didn't have as much cracking trouble.

Basically, you had three choices:

Base regal wheel - the same as you've got, just lacking the thin inlay set into the grip ring, and thus, less cracking.

Limited regal - what you've got.

Sport leather wrapped - this would be the same wheel the t-type and grand national got. They just used 3 different horn button emblems. If you had a base/limited regal and ordered the leather wheel, you got the blue square regal crest in the horn button. T-type got the red slanted 't'. GN got the buick tri-shield crest set as greyscale against a black background.

Quick update, found it and there’s now two or three small cracks in it but they’re about 1/8” drop or less, 1/16”-1/8” across, really small. Be pretty easy to fill in…

Permanent Temporary
I dug out the crumbing embedded trim, opened up the narrow cracks with a disc on a Dremel, and filled everything in with JB Weld.

Lesson learned: the JB Weld is a whole lot easier to work with on a very warm day. Flows like honey unless it's April...then it flows like peanut butter.

Careful work with a half-round file, then 400 grit sandpaper, then plastic spray-dye in a can. I ordered a leather wheel wrap from Amazon and used a baseball stitch courtesy of YouTube.

My only regret is that I could not find a dark blue wrapper. Not perfect, but not $400.

You had me worried at first few pics, but the final looks really good. Arizona sun is murder out here on plastics. If/when I need one done I will be looking you up.

Not that it matters much now, but Wheelskins claim to have navy blue that they simply call "blue".

Color chart here:

I think the size is "A", but not sure. But Amazon claims to sell it in blue as well. $50.95, but it is leather. And blue. A tad pricier than most, but from what I understand, it's a decent product.
