I cannot believe that you did that to a rare and valuable Hurst Olds……………………………………….and I love it!

Modified. Always.

Sometimes it is just aesthetic, and not always performance oriented. But, better tires and brakes are always warranted in this day and age.

Just for clarity sake I got no problems with modding, whether big mods or small mods as long as they're done correctly. I'm just getting a bit annoyed at everybody who sees my car telling me I 'GOTTA' do a complete performance makeover on it because, apparently, speed and performance are the ONLY things that matter in every car end of story. According to 9 out of 10 'car guys' that have seen my car, I've 'GOT' to put a SBC and a Muncie/T56 transmission in it. Sorry to disappoint but no. Just find it sad everybody's first thoughts about every car they see is 'gut it and change everything so its faster ( but do it cheaply too )'.

I see you have a 440 stroker 1985 442. You must catch flack no matter which one you drive.😉

It's ALL personal preference, but if you ask you will likely get responses that do and don't agree with.

Since I didn't butcher anything and it looks stockish I haven't had any purist state their disdain as of yet but I'm sure they're out there!

No doubt but I'm not asking anybody anything. I'm most certainly not going to car cruises and asking people what I should do to make my car faster but they insist on telling me anyway!

Do you have any 1/8 or 1/4 times on that stroker car?

My car is somewhat rare being a factory turbo car, but I got bored with how it ran. Beings the engine was not original to the car I figured that gives me an excuse to do what I wanted with it. So I built my turbo six into a fun car to drive! It did end up being a lot faster than what I had planned, but that is ok with me! I just wanted to try something different. Around here most people at car shows can't give two sh*ts about a Monte Carlo. So I am building it for me. If you like it, cool. If you don't like it, that is ok too.

Was wondering what people's thoughts are on the subject of keeping a car ( Gbodys ) stock or modifying them.

I've got my super low mileage 78 with 5 speed. Its bone stock. It's cool to drive because it's a stick, looks really nice, and it gets alot of looks. I'm fine with the fact it's not gonna win any races or handle like it's on rails but EVERYONE who sees it comments on how I 'gotta' do this this engine swap or I 'gotta' do that. They look at me like I should be checked into the psych ward when I tell them I'm fine with it the way it is.

Am I the only one who's OK with not modifying the living crap out of every aspect of an old car? When did 'performance' become the only quality that matters in how cool a car is?

keep it stock. that's the way they were built, preserve them. you want to buy some rust bucket ( half the guys here) and modify it, ok. But keep the low mileage stuff the way it came from the factory. You'll get a lot more satisifaction out of the car
