Stock gear ratios

those 5 speeds must have really rare, there is virtually no info online about that transmission in an Olds and I think you are the first to bring that car up.

You are right, in 78 they built some. I have seen the T50 in Monza's and cars in that class but never expected to see the 65 lbs transmission in a car with the weight of a G body.

What is scarier is they were put in 892 '77 cutass's:

77 Olds 442 with 5 speed

I almost bought one...Dallas, TX 1986. It was a POS even when it was only that old...used up interior and overheated. Had not had a very good life.

There were 122 Cutlass's made with the T-50 trans.

They came with 2 different choices of rear ratios crappy and crappier!!

The '78 & '79 Olds brochures list then in it. I would be thinking the gears would be 2.73 like the 3 & 4 speeds had. Maybe the 2.93 & 3.08 could of been used. There is a guy on Ebay selling them for $900 (yes $900) & says he has 3. Most likely they are H body units.
From what I understand about them is they are very weak & the T5 replaced them in Borg Warners catalog.

I think I read 2.56 was the ratio standard with the 260 5spd. With the .84 OD, one owner claimed 30 mpg.

You could buy a good, rebuilt WC T-5 for that and have 300 lbft capability instead of 205 lbft.

The T-50 also has the goofy euro-style first gear down to the left and 2-5 are close ratio and in the H... good for "racing".

OMG that is crazy with a 55mph speed limit and without port fuel injection and only 200 lbft of torque. We had 2.50 gears in our 2+2, but that was only so it would go 170 in 4th. .82 6th was basically not usable below 60 mph, except for coasting.
