I like to clean all of the sealing surfaces with lacquer thinner and a microfiber cloth. If the surface of the heads is pitted around the water passages and depending on the style of the gaskets I will put a light application of RTV around the water passages. Then I run a bead across the front and rear valley rails about 3/8" wide from corner to corner. Then I put the gaskets in place on the heads and touch up the RTV in the corners if necessary. Then set the intake as carefully as possible to set it straight down. Then tighten the bolts in a criss cross pattern from the center outward in several stages. I just use Ultra Black RTV.

i was able to get the intake on before it started raining! i just mocked the carb up there to church it up bit...

I pulled the radiator support/header support frame, My lift wont go high enough and i wanted to bolt the transmission to the motor when i go to install, but now im second guessing myself.. does the front support frame need to be bolted in before the car has the full weight of the motor and trans, or is it safe to install without the front frame support?

the third picture is the part im talking about, i dont know its OEM name.

No reason you can't put the engine and trans in the car without the core support.

Did you leave the header installed when you pulled the core support? Believe it or not I've seen it done that way on a Grand Prix.

took off the header when i pulled the motor, i needed a few more inches of clearance. i wish i would of just pulled the core support then, its was easier then i thought. and the space it makes! you can sit on a stool and have a beer in there.

Dann,
You should be able to use the pulley's from the 267. The 3 groove at the balancer will only use the front 2 grooves. Farthest from the front cover will be for the alternator and water pump, next grove back will be for the power steering and water pump. My water pump pulley runs with both.
I've been running the 267 set on my 406 for many years without any issues and the new 79 has the same set-up.
Just need belts for a non air pump, non air conditioned car.

Hope this helps!
Bob S.
