I tried to get a good pic. Now looking at them side by side, the Lubelocker doesn't seem as thin as I thought.

That doesn't look too bad for thickness. Consider the CK pan spacer and 700R4 bottom feed filter, then you can use two gaskets😁. The stock top feed isn't the best design especially with more power. Overfilling slightly helps but can still be uncovered under acceleration.

New radiator bolts came in for the Salon. Its the small things that make these cars maintain that classic appeal.

Only a matter of time before I get to see the Salon come to life. I'm really pleased at how great the carb looks. Shot out to Quadrajet Power for that! I'm positive I will be pleased with it's performance as well. Until then I'm waiting for FedEx to deliver. I will follow up with an update. Here is a before and after picture.

It is amazing what an idle recalibration does to these late 70's Qjet's. My 78 403 carb was night and better after Everyday Performance recalibrated it for my 9.6 to 1 Olds 350. I plan on using Cliff Ruggles book to rebush, rebuild and recalibrate the idle circuits on the even leaner 800 cfm 83 Canadian non CCC 307 Qjet. It is so lean at idle it needs the idle cranked to 1200-1300 rpm. Can hardly wait to hear this motor run!

I also have Cliff Ruggles book just haven't got the courage to rebuild one.

Yeah, I chickened out last minute on my 78 carb. I will do a separate thread, it may take months to finish but I plan to take the plunge this time.

Good call on the LubeLocker trans pan gasket. i had issues with every other brand gasket (including oem) leaking. LL solved that problem and works great for rear axle cover as well.

Great build thread, awesome work so far!!

PS> Did someone replace the front bumper, or the two front parking lights? Shouldn't they be "amber" on the Salon's and not "clear" like the base model Supreme's? I don't remember if the amber lenses were an option, or part of the model tier? Anyone else know for sure?

Thank you for your positive feedback and I'm not sure if the bumper or lenses has been replaced. There is a possibility though.

I cleaned up the storage unit and discovered I bought a set of DynoMax ceramic coated headers for an Olds 78-87 and 442 was specifically mentioned. So at least I don't have to buy another set.
