Collector Gasket Fixed. :p (Sounds really good too)

Now, back to the Temp Sender.

I have an issue.

I see mine and it looks like the top one.

All the parts joints are telling me I need the Bottom one.

The Top One says Sensor..
The Bottom one says Switch.. which leads me to believe that's for Dummy Lights.

I have the Gauges.

Do I just go ahead and get the one that Looks Right, or.....?

Thanks!

Wellston, OK
TS76 is with gauge

Was the car delivered to the dealer with gauges, or has it been swapped?

top one...don't worry about the cut off year of 78, they were supposed to change to the blade in 79 but that never happened

On its way, thanks!

Kind of unsettling to run without a temp gauge.

Here is the issue, both are for gauges in your car but the top is for '80 & older heads with 1/2" pipe thread as the lower is for '80 & newer heads with 3/8" pipe thread. From what I understand sometime during the '80 production year GM changed the size of the threaded port in the heads. As you have a later model go with the smaller one.

did a test one summer afternoon on the myth of teflon tape not grounding well. had no effect on the gauge or grounding. still worked good either way.

What model is your car, which engine/cluster? These details can make a huge difference in determining the cause of your issue. And teflon tape does not affect the operation of the sensor/gauge.
