th250 to 200-4r swap

The easy part, the drive shaft s the same. Performance cars had larger diameter tube. Now, what year car do you have? Early cars need a frame extension on the drivers side & a TH200-4R crossmember. The later cars (about '84 & newer) should have the extension & would only need a crossmember.

Its an 85. I'll be putting in an 8.5 rear and brf trans with matching driveshaft. Just wanted to know if I could swap the rear and driveshaft and still use the th250 in the car until I have the brf trans gone through.

The 8.5 rear from another G body would need the drive shaft from the same donor car. One from an older A body will need the drive shaft cut down. As long as you trans/rear came from another G body & your frame has the extension, everything should be simple. Just swap crossmembers when you swap trans.

You'll also need a 2004R filler tube and TV cable with appropriate cable bracket to match your induction style. The geometry of the cable bracket and cable attach point on the engine is critical to a successful swap.

I'm assuming the existing TV bracket on the carb will work. If not I'll have to hunt down one off a 200c vehicle. Should be interesting having a 3.8 2 barrel with 3.42 and brf trans.
