Replaced my water pump Thursday now to figure out what is wrong with my temp gauge, and figure out what is going on with my heater core. Seems like its either plugged up or it has a really big air pocket.

After replacing the water pump, that leak stopped only for a new leak to start between the lower radiator hose and the radiator. Since the radiator was in rough shape to begin with, I just went ahead and replaced both the rad and the hoses today, instead of trying to figure out if it was one or the other. As of now there are no more leaks, and the heater is working again. Seems it was just a really bad air pocket plugging up the heater core. A very productive day. Still have to sort out the temp gauge, but for now The Blue Pig is back in business.
Probably. Gotta pull the gauge cluster out again, try and clean up the circuit board sheet and check that the gauge lead is tight. While frustrating watching the gauge spin makes me giggle so it could be worse. Hahaha
Sorry it has been so long since I've updated the status on the car, but a major setback has arose. Two days after I put in the radiator the trans died. While only two days apart, both the input and output lines to the radiator from the trans were at temperature so I don't believe the two are related. In the meantime I'm just trying to figure out what I am going to do. Waiting to hear back from my dad to see if his buddy who was a phenomenal trans guy is interested in rebuilding it. Once I figure what I'm going to do I will keep you all posted.
It could have been a restrictive cooler or been on it's way out. You did top up the fluid? What brand of radiator? I would add a trans cooler with the rebuild.
The radiator I installed is a stock replacement Spectra heavy duty radiator from autozone. The fluid was topped off to the proper level. The car still moves but very slowly at very high RPM. I added more fluid since and now the fluid level is a bit above the full line.
