BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

Good job as always 👏
And it's good to know the economy up north is doing well also. Trying to look at any positive things in our crazy lives these days.

Appreciate it Tony, thank you.
Yes, I know it sounds like I complain sometimes, but at the end of the day it’s first world problems and me just venting. I’m actually very fortunate and grateful that I have a good job that I (mostly) like, that pays well and work for good people. Really can’t complain about that especially when so many other folks are struggling just to get by.

Thanks Mike.
What I’m envisioning for the interior of the car is luxurious meets high tech. Black leather wrapped on the door and interior panels as well as the rear firewall. Carbon fiber and brushed aluminum accents, ergonomic and contoured dash and console, with nice plush carpet and copious amounts of DynaMat or similar sound deadening.
All business on the outside and the mechanicals, yet feel like stepping into a new Mercedes on the inside. I don’t know if I’ll be able to pull it off, but that’s what I’m going to attempt to achieve.
this is one build in the back of my mind i don't have to worry about getting pearl harbored on..there's zero chance that it's gonna be set on kill @every turn except the interior...

Not quite sure what you’re driving at here Chris, good or bad, but I could always go this route…
🤣🤣🤣

You make jokes until some a$$hole calls "Pimp My Ride" and you walk into a police impound to find it stretched out into a limo with a hot tub in the trunk and a snow cone machine in the back seat.

Happy New Year everyone.

I threatened to post again once the driveshaft tunnel was done, so here it is. I smoothed out the harsh grinder marks and got the sides welded up at the back, so it’s done for now until I redo the floor pieces.

The seam looking area at the back on the passenger’s side isn’t actually a seam, it’s a factory area where the metal is folded over on itself, so it stays for now.

Got a couple other irons in the fire, placed an order to Summit Racing yesterday for new axle bumpstops to cut a bit taller, plus a wider universal driveshaft safety loop that will accommodate up to a 4” diameter driveshaft. I’ll mostly need it for the taller top section to add to mine, but if the diameter is bigger than my existing one then I’ll likely end up just using both halves of the loop and welding them to my existing brackets.

While I’m waiting for that to arrive, I’ll dust off the seat brackets and gusset them (as suggested by you guys earlier) before bolting the driver’s side one to the seat and into the car. Then I can play with the ergonomics of positioning of the emergency brake handle on the tunnel and getting that reinstalled.

Progress is good.

“I couldn’t make the metal move and conform to the shape I needed at the back, so after a couple of failed attempts, I cut the whole back section off where the side flanges ended, and built a whole new separate section.”

Of course you did. With your Magneto super powers, bending ferrous metal to your will!

Shame to cover that with carpet.
