BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

Very few people will ever truly appreciate your effort, much less your effort to document and log it all. As I have said in the past: I only maintain my threads for my needs, everyone else is just along for the ride.

Guess I am back at it this weekend too.

DD Speed Shop did a video on YouTubing today. His rule of thumb is 1 hour of production for one minute of video made.

You'd be grinding on different things for that kind of recognition. I am uncertain if the ROI is there. But, if you do it, do it for yourself.

Truth on all points Mike.

The rule of thumb you mentioned is very accurate from my limited experiences. Even just writing an update for the thread here is usually a minimum hour long process. Lots of proof reading, clarifying, simplifying and editing so it all makes sense. More if a lot of pictures and intricate descriptions are needed.

I suppose most of what I post about the progress on the car is probably for my own personal documentation, but for me the most enjoyable threads to read about are the build threads. So when I do my updates, I try and present them in an informative but still (hopefully) entertaining way so everyone can enjoy them and it’s not a total snooze fest.

Checking in for my intermittent build thread binge

Fantastic as always

That is all 🙂

So with the handbrake kit that you've ordered Donovan, you said that you're going to use the Lokar cables. Does this mean that you're going to have roughly equal length cables for both rear wheels, that will run from the equalizer bar to each rear wheel? I'm assuming that you're going to have to fabricate brackets to attach and secure the cables. Looking forward to seeing that part of your conversion.

I’m going to have WAY more room for a larger ‘shaft with this one vs the original.

Looking great, the worst of it is, I need the driveshaft tunnel for my project. From a couple of years sitting outside and leaking water, the passenger rear floor pan is rusted, and the top of the driveshaft tunnel of all places... And of course I couldn't fine any place to get it other than buying a complete floor pan. Oh well, probably do like you and have one rolled on a slip roller.

Chris Alston's ChassisWorks sells a trans & driveshaft tunnel kit for those needing to fab something larger/different vs. the stock tunnel.

Driveshaft safety loop and the new rear axle bump stops showed up from Scummit Racing today.

The loop measures 4 3/4” across the inside, which only leaves 3/8” per side when used with a 4” driveshaft as Summit advertises, but it should be just fine with a 3 1/2” diameter D.S.

Definitely taller than my old one, so that’s a plus and the main reason for getting it.

Overall it’s a win, exactly what I was hoping for.

It is hard. I always say I am going to do a video on something and I dont lol. Hell I built a custom cluster for my Fueltech install this week and I couldnt even get a half *ss "how to" post with pictures lol. I just posted the final product. It is alot of work to document your progress.

WTH? Did I read that right on the bump stop package? "GM style pull thru bumpys"? 😆

Edit: I thought of this:

Hahaha I didn’t even notice that on the package!

On the subject of bump stops.

Where are you putting the rear bump stop(s)? The stock center location is now in direct line with my 9" Yoke/U-Joint. I'm thinking of doing one on each side of the rear frame rails above the axel tubes. I wanted to see how you were doing yours.
