BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

Opinions are like @ssholes on what products are "best". Simply buying something doesn't qualify. Rarely does anyone actually put them through their paces. There is a lot of talk and conjecture but very little empirical evidence.

This is a very budget set up from about a decade ago, and the build was initiated ten years prior.

800lb/in front and 180lb/in rear springs, 36mm F-body front and Hellwig rear, KYB front and Bilstein rear shocks, B-body spindle/brake conversion front and LS1 discs rear. 275s front and 315s rear. It would spit the dust caps off the front hubs under hard cornering.

So the question is can Rktpwrd establish goals and limitations for his vision and not just chase "the best" parts? I know he can. Air ride might make it difficult to get the right bars to match the "spring rates" depending on his intended usage.

Bada$$ Buick. Flat as Kansas through the cones.

A straight line car needs ARB and driver that you want to corner needs a sway bar.
Bone to pick with this statement, they are the same thing, both are preventing the anti-roll of the body. I've never been impressed with the horrible sway bars that GM put on the G Bodies, I'm sure it was a compromise, don't get me wrong, it's still better than no sway bar.

So I looked at the suggested cheaper Hellwig bar, interesting that it's 1 5/16" as I was looking at the Spohn Suspension Pro Series Drag Bar and it's the same size. Any guesses as to hoe the length of the sway bar arms plays into the torsional rigidity of these?

From a physics standpoint, I would assume that a longer arm is going to provide more leverage to do the job

Wait, what? You mean I’m supposed to responsibly and realistically manage my goals and expectations against real world parts choices availability and their applications/limitations???
You obviously think far too highly of me sir!
😅

Sorry to clutter up your thread Rktpwrd

Breaking out the old paper stuff "How To Make Your Car Handle"

No apologies needed, all the info is on point and definitely welcomed.

Everyone has different answers, I wish I had one. I agree completely with Donovan on the no rear sway bar and tiny non F41 front bar on these cars. My 88 was the worst handling G body I have ever driven or rode in, it was equipped like he mentioned. Another reason why I don't really miss it. My 70S and my 2000 Dakota would kill it on a road race course in the corners. Knowing Donovan, he will get it right, even if means reinventing the wheel.
