Thanks for the tip, already did that. It's #7.
if you had a V6 you wouldn't have that problem.....😎

Will get pics soon within an hour or two. What I don't understand, is NOTHING changed about the engine and all of a sudden the engine ran like crap with the vac advance plugged in. The only thing that changed was the carb, and even then that was still a 17058241 '78 Buick 350 quadrajet. The car ran great without it plugged in. Timing at 12btdc, TA rebuilt HEI distributor with 22 degrees of mechanical advance that starts at 1000 and is in by 3400. 1000 always did seem a bit low to me, even for a BOP motor. I'll swap in some stiffer springs after I get the motor back together.Almost undoubtedly the detonation was your issue. The tale of hooking up the vac advance caused the pinging means you had a tremendous tune issue, whether timing or fuel is yet to be determined in this thread. Post some pics of ALL of yuor rod bearings and the proof will be in the pics.
I disagree with 'all things Chevy'. But I agree with the expense of building non-Chevy motors. My username ought to give an idea to some of the older members that I'm not scared to build an older Buick.
The ORIGINAL, ultimate torque monster was a Buick - can you say NAILHEAD.
Mr. Sony, build your Buick and get the tune spot on before the burnouts begin.
This is the main reason I decided to go Chevy in my olds. I saw 6k on a reg basis and sometimes higher. On my cammed olds 350 I got really good at swapping rocker guides lolUnless you have a huge cam, 6k with Buick's marginal oiling system is crazy. Do all the oiling mods including the new front cover and get a rev limiter. Doesn't the Buick 350 have 3" mains? Even stepping up to a 217/223 cam on my Olds 350, 5500 rpm will be max for me. The Olds 350 has a better oiling system but has heavy parts. Olds V8's run way better with as much timing as possible, 8 to 1, 60+ part throttle, the Buick V8 is obviously different. If you want rpm, run a Chevy, unless Olds, Buick, Pontiac or Cadillac are really cammed, they don't need high rpm, they all have a much flatter torque curve, designed to move heavy, well optioned cars.
I had a 6al box on my 429 ford and im still kicking myself for not removing it prior to me selling the thunderbird.A rev limiter is a good idea for you.
I have a 6al box I could sell cheapishI had a 6al box on my 429 ford and im still kicking myself for not removing it prior to me selling the thunderbird.
