After assembly and few details I got the Cutlass up and running on the street. ( I do realize the tires look a bit low. Got them to spec psi now.lol)

What does the gear swap do for me?
I have to say the gear swap was the most hardest part of the whole deal. Getting that pinion depth just right aggravated me. Driving with 3.73 isnt as bad as most make it seem with a 3 speed. It doesn't bother me a bit. You do reach 3rd gear quick but for city driving(mostly what i do) its real responsive and less of a spongy acceleration compared to the 2.-- I had. Let me tell you I was so happy to know my rear does not make a single thud or whine. That's a big plus. Ill change out the oil after 500 miles, and then get a correct speedo gear for my trans.

Interior feel.
This is the best part IMO its the best interior I've sat in. The wheel, seats, color, every thing came together. The seats are very comfortable better than any stock seats. I still have to finish a few details like small pieces etc. But its all there...Minus the head liner. I will be ordering one asap. Its the last finishing touch.

This build is certainly not done. Theres still more to be done but for the mean time its cruizn time.

Ill shoot some photos for the update.

Hey that hood looks familiar! Those are the same emblems I used. I got them through Summit.View attachment 39568
Very nice tach location. Yes i did get them through summit lol. I will try my best to inslall my hood tomorow. Favorite part of a cowl hood is a cars look can turn from "oh look at my nice car" to "move out of my way this things a beast".

Its a fuel pressure gauge not a tach lol.

Looking good and I love the wheels on it.

Definitely taking shape. You've done a great job so far.:popcorn::popcorn:

Well... I feel very apreciative of the fact that I still own my cutlass after what happened today. And I have decided that this car needs a new heart and frame.

Today i decided to test the Olds on a long trip, an hour long trip. We got to the junk yard picked up some sun visors and other pieces for other cars. While heading back, there is a road that has a mile long hill with a very steep incline. I put the Olds up to it (knowing the olds is very weak lol). WOT climbimg the hill at about 55 @3200rpms it started to over heat and a sharp oily smell filled the air. No big deal right...at the peak of the hill parked the Olds to cool it down and what happened next scared me so much.

I know when coolant burns it creates white smoke but what i was looking at blowing out of the cowl wasn't white smoke it was BLACK!!! When me and my father popped the hood sure enough Fire! All over the passenger exhaust manifold. And its not that clear clean burning fire it was a dark red fire all it needed was oxygen, and keep in mind here we are at the top of a mountain on a windy day. Let me tell you one of the most scariest ordeals to ever happen. Think about your car that you put soo much time and money on is suddenly on fire. An adrenaline rush entered. My car was saved due to the fact that my dad had just bought some coolant and not only insisted to but saved some in the trunk. Within seconds the fire was out after we doused a 240+ over heating engine with coolant. I couldn't believe my car almost burned to the ground here in the middle of nowhere.

The cars fine now runs a little rough after the incident. And i don't think i can drive it without fearing it'll blow up lol. It most likely spewed oil from the valve cover onto the red hot manifold due to the fact the the engine was running at a constant 3000+ rpms all the oil was most likely floating on the valvetrain. But long story short this engine can NOT stay in the Olds and the frame is comming off along with it as with the transmission. I have a very healthy Chevrolet 350 recently rebuilt and hopefully a 200-4r awaiting for me.

This is not the end...

Whew! I bet an extinguisher is on the parts list now eh?
Glad the car and you both got out of that ordeal ok. Good that you have a new mill to put in, bad that it means you won't get to enjoy driving her for a bit.

I am definitely investing in a good extinguisher. I was watching drag cars catching on fire on youtube yesterday. Let me tell you 9 times out of 10, once the fire gets to the fuel lines its over. Yes the 350 is a perfect plant for some bolt-ons has a forged crank and rods, 993 heads but I cant complain maybe ill throw in a better cam and some vortechs. But more details on that later.
