I can get my hand behind there and have I little wiggle room. 285 tires should fit.

Have been working on the frame getting it together when I can. Started a new job and I have less free time. But none the less work is in progress.

I decided to spend the $50 and Change out the motor mounts for some energy suspension inserts. To be honest the old mounts looked real tired and I might as well done it. The comparison between the two is obvious.

Bought some adjustable upper control arms due to the fact that the car will be lowered and the lower control arms have polyurethane bushings/boxed/and a OPG sway bar. They look good IMO.

Installed a "G Force" crossmember. A very sturdy price right there. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a dual exhaust crossmember.

+1 on this. I was looking for a good true dual cross member solution and tend to overdo everything anyway so naturally this caught my eye too. Helped surprisingly on body torque twist too after I got the big block in plus it just looks badass . . .

Excuse me for not looking through all the pages [yet] but did I see stock uppers and UMI lowers up front? Allergies have my eyes practically closed though so could just be that [??] . . .

Yea I was looking at that crossmember for a while finally decided to grab it. Glad I did.
About the UMI stickers you see on the lower control arms I just put them there. I bought the front control arm bolts and the rear end housing bushings and they came with those neat looking stickers lol. Maybe when the cars up and running, I'll want some tubulars but for now stocks with poly bushings will do.

Well here we are again. I got the rear suspension put together. I have to adjust the upper control arms correctly but for the most part I am 100% pleased on how it's coming along. I really can't wait to drive on this suspension already. Hopefully I can take a video when Its all said and done. I also got three jeep steering shafts from the wreckers. One for me one for my boy who has a Malibu. I'm selling the 3rd one. PM me if interested $50 +shipping.

So, I asked this on another thread and will eventually be calling UMI about it but do you know the pros/cons of a rear sway that bolts to the lower control arms vs. clamped to the axle and up to the frame?

The factory rear sway bar bolts to the lower arms. Aftermarket lower arms generally do not include these holes and it would be more work than worth it to add them. The bars that clamp to the axle and bolt to the frame I believe work better and that is generally how aftermarket sway bars are designed.

The rear sway bar that mounts the the frame is better. I bet it's due to the fact that the diff moves accordingly to the frame, instead of the other design that just holds the LCA's parallel. My car did not come equipped with a sway bar so I bought an OPG sway bar. I didn't think a $300 sway bar was in my needs list. Definitely worth it though and a nice piece indeed.

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread . . . I hope you [and others?] find this discussion useful too?

I just don't get how this sway bar design works better? Those tiny vertical chassis mounts aren't going to flex [fore/aft-left/right] when that large rear end mass moves? Now, they should keep the axle from moving up/down which just fights what the rear suspension is trying to do and would seemingly amplify every single little bump the rear end hits. Maybe I can get my brain around this when I talk to UMI about it but tying the sway bar to the lower control arms seems like it would provide more lateral [sway] reinforcement between the rear wheels.
