careful!!!!!!!!!! my 71 chevelle was beat by a stock Honda civic.my chevelle was a 454 .60 over 411 gears and 550 hp @ 550 ft lbs tq
hate to say it but that's why I don't line up with anyone now.
I too am a rice burner hater but they are quick

Well obviously that Honda was not stock, your engine produces nowhere near what you claim, you just sat there and spun, or any combination of those 3.

Yes, anything can be made fast so you have to be carefull and respect that unassuming riceburner, but a beefed up big block with steep gearing losing a drag race to a STOCK Honda Civic ( I don't give a crap what year or model ) does not happen anywhere in the universe.

I wonder how many 1978 to 1988 hondas are still on the road....or any Asian import for that matter...

Well to answer your question is a point and case, I have 3 in that age range, that would honestly mop the floor with most G bodies. First my 86.5 toyota Supra. It has a 2JZ-GTE motor with a fully forged bottom end pushing a 72mm turbo and 2200cc injectors running on E85 making over 1000rwhp before the bottle at 38psig.

Next is my 88 supra with a stock bottom end 7mgte making 551rwhp on a 50trim pte turbo 282 cams and no spray.

And my final one just out of that age bracket is my 89 eclipse GSX. it has a 2.0L 4G63 motor with a FP green turbo. Fully built race motor, and runs high 9's in the 1/4mi.

Imports are a blast, but they are not very powerful as an NA application. And if you dont know imports, I could tell you my 88 supra was "stock" other than an exhaust, and you may very well believe it. As it is a turbo car stock with a 3.0L 7mgte motor. The 7mgte has a forged bottom end from the factory, and other than a common HG issue, is one of the most stout stock motors you can find. Mind you these are NO honda's, but they are imports with motors nearly half the size of some of these G bodies on here.

I stock Civic Si should run 13's with a "good" driver. Keep in mind, their 220hp is only moving a 2300lb car, where your 500hp is moving close to double that.

all is great in rice rocket land until we start throwing turbo's on our small blocks, Oh wait here comes the twin turbo thread, next running propane on turbo thread.......this does not belong here (PS I allow my son to park his Lexus sc400 in my driveway only because It has a V8 & passes the no shitty sounding exhaust rule)
& how long do those high rpm engines last until you get someone to fix it for you

My 42 year old rice car is at least 2 seconds quicker than my 35 year old Gbody. Handles better and gets almost twice the MPG too.

sorry for that don't want to make assumptions.

Please give some education on turbo's on larger cubic engines

hmmmm took my gp for a spin the other night and stomped all over a way newer Honda.... 'race' started after leaving the light and shifting into second!...maybe his was all stock but my ride wasn't even warmed up seeing as I'm having issues with it after it warms up :| backfiring and seems to be not getting enough fuel... but it took it the race without a doubt! NOW I'm ok with kids being morons! cuz I picked up my new to me 87 cutty which is pretty clean for a decent price and next day after I bought it kid bought a Honda civic to replace it!!, took him some items left in the cutty and seen it, I'm not impressed!!! now I know any supped up 4 banger WILL be spank a olds 307 without a doubt.... :| I'm planning a LS1 swap to make it even!

so you have 3 and Driven has 1....anyone else?

Wow. All this thread needs now is Whitey to chime in with his opinion on Japanese cars.

The ignorance runs deep in mullet land...

So very few of you have 15 second cars, much less the 13 to 14 seconds needed to beat the average "performance" sport compact. Please stop kidding yourselves and believing the hype in catalogs and magazines.
