CUTLASS time for a swap

I'm in a unique position i have some transferable skills. I have been making custom cnc bmx bike parts for years and need something more complex. I have some car nut friends, some mechanical enigineer friends. I work at a engineering firm. it just sounds fun. Here is some of my work. If i cant pull this off it would be a real embarassment

Nice! Put those CNC skills to work and cut the Oldsmobile script into some LS valve covers. I’d buy a pair!

Well finally got 455 to the machine shop to look at everything 2 months ago. They told we will take care of the machine work you just have to pay for parts..... no biggie. So 2 months later they still haven't touched it after saying they would have it done in 2 weeks (called every week and kept getting the run around). Got pissed and picked it up yesterday and took it to another machine shop. He mic'd the crank and found out the rods were already ground .040 and the mains were .010 and that it was gonna have to take another minimum of .010 off the rod journals and .020 off the main journals to get everything cleaned up and usable. putting the engine back up for a while and going to start building a parts list for a stroker kit. done messing with it. I guess ya live and ya learn though.

Well, finally was able to find a decent crank, got the machine work done and rebuilt the 455. I'm definitely a lot happier now with how it turned out vs the first time.

Cool, glad you went back to the 455. Plans change, you stuck to it, not easy when a million LS are in circulation and parts everywhere. Let's hope they machined everything very carefully and the balance is spot on, too many failed 455 builds with bottom end issues. Good luck.

Curious, what are all the specs, including clearances?

Ahh. Progress. It's a good thing you didn't swap in that 6.0. If you had you would realize it's superior performance and wouldn't be going back to 1949 technology.
Come on, it is 1964 or 1965 technology😁♿. How do think the second gen Olds, Buick and Cadillac V8's were nearly as light as the 50's technology sbc, despite allowing much more CI and psychically larger? New, improved casting techniques is how.

Lol wellllllll I did swap the 6.0 in, and its outta the car again because I wanted to clean up the firewall and redo the engine mounts as well as putting on a different oil pan. I'm actually trying to get my hands on a 72 cutlass and the big block will go in there if I can get it.
