At the local cruse ins here there are normally one or two G-bodies other than mine out of ~60 cars or so. In this area there are non in the junkyards. I have seen a few on the road too. Mostly Monte Carlo SS. Hate to say it but the nice ones seem to only come out for the shows / cruse ins.

My first post. Your thread is what has me in a dilemma. I have an 87 aerocoupe. Needs plenty of work. Rear quarters.. Cooling system, brakes, suspension, transmission work etc. They built 6k in 87.. But I have been told that only 10% were hard tops. Not sure if that's true or it matters. I want to restomod the car over the next several years. I am curious to know if some one would really want it as a stock car. My personal opinion is that the real vision the designers of these cars had was destroyed by how horrible gm was managing things during that time. So putting a better power train and nicer bits can only help saleability.

I agree. Since only 6052 were made in 1987, the 1986 model had 200 made....More desirable in stock form, IMO. Mine is highly modified and I think worth more than a stock 87 Aerocoupe. In addition, There is no evidence found that any but production numbers exist for them. Hard tops and T-Tops, colors, Interior colors, etc..... I can tell you the Maroon/Oxblood interiors are the most common with the Black exterior and Saddle color interior and rarely seen. We do know as a fact, the 86 Aerocoupes were all white with Maroon/Oxblood interiors. Here is another example of something rarely seen. A friend has a 87 Aerocoupe, White Exterior and Saddle interior with the Red Burgundy/Maroon striped decals. He has the original black stripes in the truck but it was never applied at the dealership. I have never seen that color combination before or read about it anywhere. If your that concerned, keep the OE motor in storage and modify the car to your taste, I'm glad I did.

I'd like to know what happened to all the stamps. You can build a 60's pickup ordering parts from a catalog.

I have had this convo with several of my car guys... what is gonna be the next "have to have" car?? or is there even gonna be that? I am now in my mid 40's and grew up with a love for the automobile and was always doing something to them on friday nights just to cruise on saturday... but is this a dying thing? are younger kids still wanting to do the "old to them" cars and take the cars we grew up with and restore, modify, race, and show em off or is the playstation era doing something else??

The problem with kids nowadays is they are into the rice and other newer cars.those generations appreciate technology over a cool old car.and most of us think theyre, well you know what im saying.

The cool old cars are drying up.they are still out there but not in everybodies backyard anymore.all the good ones have been built.just think of all the cars that were crushed because of parts that werent available till recently.i know i scrapped alot of cars that could be saved today.

The g bodies appeal to a very small exclusive group of 80s kids.and not many of these cars left.

It's not just the G-bodies I also have a 1984 Mustang GT turbo convertible. There was only 731 of these made and this happens to be the only one (1 of 1) that is light academy blue and it's not worth any real money.

I pulled up to a party in a cul de sac in our neighborhood a couple weeks back in my Grand National. All these kids come up to it ranging in age from 6-15. One kid says...." WOW!!! is this some back to the future car?" I replied no it's a Buick. He replies....I sh*t you not....just like the granny in the latest Buick commercials.... "That's a Buick!"" I could have sold that on video for thousands!. I think these cars will stick around for quite a number of years with many age frames.

Thought I'd through in my 2 cents worth. When I bought my 81 Cutlass 25 years ago I paid $700.00 for it. Trying to find one in good running and driving condition today is next to impossible. I also received a 86 Monte Carlo running and driving, for free for work on a mini van
