I like this thread. Gives me an idea of what I'll have to figure out to get new ones to replace the ones that are way long gone.

Yeah, typically what I have seen for bucket seats were 2, 0, 3, then 5. So 5 person max. It would make sense that you would be normally at 910 lbs for 5 people. Now how exactly they get those numbers, I don't exactly know.

And then typically, where there's 2 benches, I've seen 3, 0, 3, then 6 with 1060 LB Capacity weight. Not saying that's exact, as I have seen 2, 0, 3, and then 5 with 1060 LB cap weights as well. But most 85-up Monte SS and 442 G-body with 5 people weight capacities show 910 LB weights on the door jamb labels and they all had bucket seats.

If you have an invoice, there may be some weight capacities and curb weights listed on the invoice as well.

Looking at the invoice, at the very bottom it states "HP SW GVW DCW 04/10" and beneath is 180 and 3464. I'm guessing the HP=180 and the GVW =3464.
4/10 is the date it was shipped, and 4/14 was the "commencement of interest period".

Only other difference between 84 and 85 that I'm aware of is the 84's have a THM350C trans with a 3:42 differential, whereas the 85's used the THM200R4 with a 3:73 diff. I doubt the differential weighed more than a pound or two different, but perhaps the trans did. It was generally known then that the THM350 could handle more power. Very, very few had posi.

Not to volunteer the man’s services, but 69HurstOlds is very good at making reproductions of these decals. Here’s mine he made to replace after I repainted the car, albeit with a few “personalizations” for me:

He even remade the small blue Transport Canada decal:

Perhaps if you were to talk nice to him and perhaps flash a couple of crisp ones, he might be inclined to make you some replacements.

Suggestion....I'm not a member over at MontecarloSS.com forums, but perhaps you are. Or SHOULD be! haha I'm sure those guys that live and breathe MCSS's would know whether their door stickers on their 84s had 3,0,3,6 or 2,0,3,5 for a bench seat with a 1060 LB capacity. I'm sure even the 83s would be the same, and I believe ALL the 83 SS's had benches. 3,

Just something to consider.

Prototype is done- needs a few adjustments but it's pretty close.
