Those sizes are pretty tall, they may not fit at stock rise height. Sidewall height is one factor in ride quality but other things can affect it too. How much air pressure are you running? What are shocks and springs? There may be cheaper/better options to soften it up.[/QUO
I meant to say It HAS new shocks and springs
the only way to know is to either find someone running that size, or try it yourself. the Tire Calculator says a lot bigger (like 3-1/2" taller!), I wouldn't do it

even a 195/65-17 is a whole inch taller. a 185/65-17 is equal in height. honestly, unless you can confirm you got plenty of clearance, I'd roll back to 16". it's not much better but a 205/60-16 is the same height as what you currently have. you would then have room to bump up to a 65 or 70 series tire
I think in those sizes the tallest tire you can get away with would be a 55 series.Could I use 225 65 r17 or 235 65 r17 tires on my 85 Monte carlo ss .Ijust bought it with nice chrome 17 in wheels .It has 245 45r17 tires on it. I want a smoother ride
