Those sizes are pretty tall, they may not fit at stock rise height. Sidewall height is one factor in ride quality but other things can affect it too. How much air pressure are you running? What are shocks and springs? There may be cheaper/better options to soften it up.

the only way to know is to either find someone running that size, or try it yourself. the Tire Calculator says a lot bigger (like 3-1/2" taller!), I wouldn't do it

even a 195/65-17 is a whole inch taller. a 185/65-17 is equal in height. honestly, unless you can confirm you got plenty of clearance, I'd roll back to 16". it's not much better but a 205/60-16 is the same height as what you currently have. you would then have room to bump up to a 65 or 70 series tire

I meant to say It HAS new shocks and springs

What shocks and springs though? The spring rate could be what's detrimental to your ride comfort. I have Nitto NT555 255/45/17 on my old Impala SS wheels and they've always served me well.

Up front, you really don't want to go taller than 26 inches. I would suggest 235/50/17, rear you can go up to 28 inches tall without too much trouble.
Make sure you have the proper backspacing. GL!

I think in those sizes the tallest tire you can get away with would be a 55 series.
