the person who did the wheel tire combo on my car really didnt think too clearly haha, the front wheels were 15x8 with a 4 1/2 backspacing and the rim was grinding on the control arm. ended up swapping the 15x8 welds with a 4 1/2 backspacing from the front to the rear and had 255-60-15 tires put on them, they fit great. ended up putting 70s style 15x7 rallye wheels on the front. rides much better now!

I RUN 18X10 WITH 4.75 BACKSPACE AND A 275/40/18

YOU CAN RUN UP TO A 305 WITH A 18X11 WITH 4.75 BACK SPACE AND NO FRAME MOD ON THE REAR

I have 15x7's with a four inch backspace and am against the frame on my regal, how the heck are you running that big of a rim and backspace and not having issues?

The problem is an 18" tire combo fits completely different from how a 15" fits, on an 18" you have a short tire on a large rim with a small section width by comparison. On an 18 x 10 with a 275/40 you are only at about 27" tall or less and your section width is somewhere around 11" on a 10" rim.
My 15 x 8.5 rims with a 28" tall 295/55 has a section width of just under 12" and if I put my tires on a 10" rim the section width would increase to around 12.5" and the section width is where you end up having frame rubbing issues.

What year regal? My Grand National has 17x9 with 4.5" BS with no rubbing issues whatsoever. :?:

exactly - my 17 x 8s are so big they clear all my front steering/suspension components, but the tires are small so there is a little rubbing, but not much.

I had the same issue with my 15x7 wheels with 4" backspace, switched to a 15x8 rally with 4" backspace and the issue went away. weird huh

If you had the same tire and put it on a wider rim with the same BS it brings the tire out towards the outside of the car and pulls the section width a little further that way also, which is why that could solve a mild rubbing issue.
