I'm in need of a trailer hitch for a sub 1500lb trailer. Are they available or do I have to make one?

If anyone has one they want to part with, then PM me. But It appears that I cannot buy one new anywhere- is that accurate?

I just checked out Summit, and they seem to be on special order. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cht-12005

They also used to be available thru U-Haul for our cars, but no longer the case. I've seen them on Ebay as well.

My wagon had a U-haul brand that was a little heavier duty and 2" receiver

The hitch on my GP is a curt from 1987 and was on the car when I got it. I cut the 1 1/4" receiver off and welded the 2" on. It looks like they changed the design, the safety chain plate is on the top on mine and it looks like the new ones its on the bottom so if you do put a 2" receiver on it's probably going to hit the bumper and you need to flip the side the safety chain plate is welded to.

But yeah 3-7 weeks is a kick in the pants.

Yeah, the U-Haul hitches seem to be constructed a bit more heavy duty. In fact, Blake has one on his wagon, if I recall.
I'm still pleased with my Curt class II hitch. Thanks again Chris.

Jack, stopped at the local U-haul - they no longer have one available for a G-body.

Jim,
It's been a good couple years, but I also stopped in at a U-Haul store. I still have the spec sheet that they gave me, Of course I checked the part # to no avail.
I'd suggest putting the word out there for a good used one. They do turn up every so often. Unfortunately, they turn up when you're not looking for one.
Wait for a good deal.
