Transmission crossmember mount repair

Is the end of the original transmission crossmember rotted off?. Kinda looks like that in your photos. As others have said, I would be taking a long hard look at the entire frame, before getting too deep into any repairs. What part of Canada are you in?

With that amount of rust in the picture, a frame off is a must just to inspect the car to see if it is worth saving, if even possible. The rust you can see is all too often just the tip of the iceberg.

It may sound extreme. But after taking mine completely apart and seeing 4 of the body mounts were so rusted I could lift the body off by hand in those spots. Then came the seat belt mounts in the rear seats were so rusted they might have ripped out if I slammed the brakes with a grown man in the back. Not to mention the rusted out holes in the floor which ended up being the least of my worries. Id really look at the pass seat belt mount since its right there in that vicinity. It sucks to hear but I would never had my kid in the car had I known my car was really this bad. I thought mine looked pretty solid. I was wrong.

If you want to do it on the real cheap, you could get some aluminum bar stock, maybe 2” in diameter cut to length at the thickness of the mounting pad. Drill a hole in the middle and shove them in. Not highly recommended, but if you’re looking for quick and dirty......

He said he has a G-force cross member so that is not the issue. It is the frame where it bolts on. If that is not so bad as he said then I would cut a piece of square steel tubing to wrap around the frame where the cross member bolts on. Kind of like a big "C" shape. Either weld or bolt that on as a reinforcement. Then attach the G-force unit as normal. But as mentioned that is just a quick fix- that rust needs to be evaluated and dealt with properly.

I have a few of these.

that’s awesome ... my buddy is going to fab me one up at his shop but that is literally the exact piece I need

These are 11 gauge, same as the stock chassis part. Same price as the 200-4R aftermarket crossmember vendors' 14" piece of rectangular tubing. I designed this to extend the pre-overdrive mount. You could cut it in half and weld it onto each frame rail literally wherever your custom crossmember needs to be.
