Transmission crossmember mount repair

Hey everyone I’m looking for advise on repairing where my cross member sits I recently bought a g force cross member and when I went to put it in I ran in to some rust .. here is a pic any advice would be greatly appreciated

I don't want to dampen your spirit but I'd be more concerned about the rest of the rust, like on the frame, floor and fuel line before the crossmember

it Looks worse in the picture the rest of the frame is solid I’m from Canada and the car was driven in winter prior to me buying it and starting to fix it up all the lines are going to be replaced I’m just loooking for some advise

I would cut that section off and fabricate a replacement piece and weld that on.

If the portion that is kicking down from the top of the frame is still solid, maybe you could weld or bolt to it? Man, I'd be concerned about how solid the rest really is before you get neck deep into it. I'm from Texas though, so we don't see a lot of stuff like that

I think it could be done in car but it would be easiest if you have access to a hoist for room to weld and line of sight if not you could get creative and make a 2 piece replacement and have one weld at the top inside that you would weld from under the car and then the bottom piece that would be welded to the frame on the bottom where the factory was and another weld to join the two pieces together on the inside facing the driveshaft.
Obviously you would to start by removing the rusted metal and determining how much good metal you have to work with.

i live in minnesota and we use an oceans worth of salt every winter on out roads. i have never seen rust like THAT, THERE.
it is troubling to me to see it that far forward and that high up on the frame. i would double check every thing from there on back, particularly the areas where the rear axle lower control arms attach to the frame. your life and others may depend on it.
i know you think it looks ok, and that you've seen worse, but don't let the "Stockholm syndrome" take a hold you. we some times become numb when we see things like this every day and think its normal.

With that amount of rust in the picture, a frame off is a must just to inspect the car to see if it is worth saving, if even possible. The rust you can see is all too often just the tip of the iceberg.
