Blake b,

Keep your eye out. You might wanna find out what year cars these engines come in and start looking for those cars in the classifieds, ebay, craigs, etc. A lot of old wagons had them. Might be able to find a rotted out junker for cheap that has a solid 400, pluck the motor, junk the rest, make your money back.

87 ttop,

I don't think will find a turnkey engine but you can find a long block for under 2k. You can put your distributor in it, your intake and carb. What type of power do you want? Are you just wanting a stock replacement with a warranty or a performance engine? As far as performance engines, you will be hard pressed to find a hot 2k dollar long block. GM sells long blocks for a decent deal and a good warranty. These are new engines, not remans. You may be able to find them cheaper than summit but I doubt it. Rebuilding your 400 shouldn't cost you more than 2k as well really. Heres a link to summit racing and the GM engines they carry.
