UPDATE: HAD my colonoscopy today 1/17/2020...

After reciting my name and birthdate seemingly 100 times to nursing staff and doctors, the event itself was easy peasy.

The good news: NADA, NOTHING! He did a screening biopsy in the general area where the small and large intestines connect because he said it was the most likely place for issues. He didn't expect anything as he said the area looked healthy through the scope, but while he was there- he typically does this. He didn't see anything visually and no polyps once again. Clean bill of health (and clean colon). Wife got her wish and we went to IHOP. I had some over easy eggs and some grits. Still want to go by Taco Bell for those Reaper Ranch tacos.

The bad news: He rescheduled me in FIVE years. I guess because I'm getting older? Figured he could get more billing in before I croak? I dunno.

My one brother in law is recovering from colon cancer surgery. He was 2 years away from his next scheduled colonoscopy when he was having problems. Went for tests, to find out he had cancer. The took out 12 inches of his large intestine, and 8 inches of the small one. He’s so far OK but don’t know yet if he’s in the clear.

I’m 65, they told me “ see you in 10 years “ I told them if I’m still around in 10 years I’ll be more than happy to keep the appointment !

I had my third one in July. Instead of the powder chalk mix I got 2 little bottles that were kinda cherry flavored. Same outcome but a lot more pleasant going into it.

I figure before my first one I am going to draw some flirty eyes on my *ss cheeks with a marker and circle my balloon knot with some lipstick.

They had me sign a waiver to skip the required paperwork for the doctor to use a marker to mark which side he was going to work on. They said since there's only one...I asked if I didn't sign it what would happen. They laughed and said that I'd have a different color opening depending on what marker the doctor used. I quickly signed it. 😲

Glad to hear everything is ok. I had to do it about 8 years ago when I was in the hospital and the prep was no fun at all. Had to drink a gallon of stuff that tasted ab terrible and about an hour or 2 later I was ready to just give up and die. Just when I thought I was done and finished cleaning myself up it started all over again. I just gave up and spent most of the night just sitting on the throne.

A PSA about the preps. The first time I had one I got a plastic gallon jug with powder in the bottom that got mixed with water. I think back then it was called something like Go Lightly. Its been a lot of years so that might not be the exact name but it was something close.
Yeah, its pretty nasty to drink. What I found made it easier was to put the jug in the freezer and made it super cold. Then when I drank it I had a cup of ice cold water and used it as a chaser for every gulp. It worked well.

I am due for my second one. Cancer rampant in my family so I will do it. I also have to do the upper. I was just treated foe melanoma and believe we caught it early. Early detection is the key for most cancer. Just suck it up and get one.
