I also had a 1992 S15 GMC Jimmy(the sister to the S-10 Blazer) I was getting 23 mpg on mine(it had the 4.3 TBI motor) Is yours the one that says VORTEC on the plenum or the one with the top of the engine air cleaner? If it is the Vortec one you should be getting 18-20 mpg just driving it. Did you check to see if the "spider" fuel injector was leaking into the plenum? (It was called a spider because it was a big assed fuel injector connected to 6 hoses each attached to a cylinder to pump fuel into that cylinder) the hoses leak and cause fuel MPG and/or running issues. The easiest way to check to see if this is your issue is to remove the cover that says VORTEC and shine a light down and look. If any of the area is clean or has a goldish tint then the thing ruptured and the gas cleaned the area

Good luck

This is my Blazer.

It's got 33 inch tires which doesn't really help the mileage and weighs just under 4200lbs. And yes it's the early aluminum intake Vortec, but removing the plastic part that say vortec doesn't allow you to see inside the intake. That said i've had the upper part of the intake off several times. There was no evidence of it leaking, but i still replaced it woth another one from the junk yard. Along with just about everything else possible to replace. I can actually drive down the road and feel the engine either dog a little or start to pull harder without me moving the throttle. Over the summer it actually kinda cleared up on it's own and was pulling an easy 16 mpg. Now it's kinda acting up again but maintaing 15 mpg.

Re: Another Daily Driver

Picked up another driveshaft and dropped it off for shortening yesterday. Got the call today it was ready to be picked up. So after work I got it installed and finally dorve it again! Still a few more things to button up but it's almost done. Also mounted some other tires. Pics soon.

^^Fixed^^

Will do!! Drove it to work today. No major issues. Little bit of tire rub on passenger side so i'll roll the lip a bit. Anxious to see what the mileage will be now. Runs about 2600 at 70, much better than 3000 at 60, lol. I also weighed it tonight, came in a 2480lbs.

Re: Another Daily Driver

Looks like I have a leaking rear brake line, not a big deal, just glad to see that brake fluid does reach the rear axle lol. Added some homemade bushings to take up the slack between the bolts and brackets that were added. No more clunking when put in gear, at least not nearly as much. Last thing today was putting in a new valve stem, after that the fun could begin...

Not the greatest but this thing is kinda hard to handle.

Re: Another Daily Driver

No major updates. Just been driving it. Got my hands on a quadrajet to replace the Edelbrock that was on it. Hoping for a bit more mileage, but instead got a friggin headache. I had fuel leaking where the accelerator pump shaft is and out from under the top plate around that same area. Got a new pump and gasket but it's still leaking. Looks like the top plate may be slightly warped so I found another one and put it on with another new gasket. Still leaking.
Not sure what the deal is. Anyone have any ideas?
