If for the computor harness, no. If for the main engine harness, keep it.
Those wires that are on the valve cover goes to the computer area. Not sure what you mean by motor harness....i mustve eliminated my pw locks...not even sure if they even worked
So far the only wires i have left is:
disty
Starter
Alt
The couple sensors by water pump
A small group to the trans area
Some at the blower

The motor harness is what has the alternator, distributor, starter, temp & oil senders. Power lock relay is in the lower passenger area where the computer is. Make sure all wires are going to the computer harness are the ones you're pulling

Is the extra starter wire going to an oil pressure switch for an electric fuel pump? Doubtful, but if anything is questionable, don't cut it until you're 95% sure what it's for.
Everytime i clipped a wire that look important, i have been starting the car to make sure everything works. I havent pulled any motor wiring. But i redid most of that sh*t already and need to do the 2 sensors since they have the easy crimp on them. Just need to hide the wires better. I have been removing passenger dangling "pointless" pig tails. Almost done now. Just gonna do some wire loom. And if the part store is still open, get some plug wire connectors and shorten all my wires to fit

sh*t.....even the tape was factory😳 well........still frustrated with the wiring😐
I hear you. Multiple burnt wires, hokey factory connections with a sh*t ton of wires cut to eliminate the CCC. I just tucked them into looms, the amount of time to do properly would be unreal.

Ive eleminated alot of the unnecessary wiring. Made some better connections. I think ive spent 3 or 4 hours tinkering with the wiring and posting stuff! Need a few things to finish....before and "in progress" pic....

I have an 85 Monte Carlo 10 years ago swapped in a 375 HP 350 at that point in time I changed absolutely everything in the engine compartment I just recently upgraded my alternator to a higher output unit that seemed to help a bit and I also had back in the day a brand new 1983 and both of these cars did the same thing your does, I wouldn't worry about it even though it does seem to be kind of annoy

I think for now i will put up with it. As long as everything under the hood is reading 14volts. I thought for sure i wouldve found the problem when i was going thru all the wires......oh well...I will probly find the issue by accident one of these days!
