What is the ZZ4 cam?

it's not what cam will work with your engine, it's what you want out of your engine. For my street car I went with the ZZ4 cam since it's good with low end torque and the power curve is what I want in my car. For the engine we built for the race car we balanced the engine for 6000 rpm and used a cam worked from 4500 to 6500 since it was governed by a 6300 chip

if you were closer I'd let you try out my car, it's a 355 with vortec heads and the ZZ4 roller cam. It pulls from the start and on the highway it pulls. I was doing 50 in 4th last weekend and it took no time to get it to 105..then I shifted into 5th and turned into a law-abiding citizen again. 8)

I have the edelbrock performer rpm ram air with a quadrajet of course. The carb is built by a local guy who is known for his q-jets. The tires will spin all the way thru 1st and that's with 3.08 posi and the distributor rev limiter is set at 5500. The nice thing is I only have about $2,000 in this engine

Sounds like a nice cruiser setup you got there. I have a brand new set of comp 981-16 springs. I can't find a whole lot on these but I wonder how much lift these can take and if they would have the right spring pressure for the vortecs.

Here's a link I found to the info on the springs.http://www.jegs.com/i/Comp+Cams/249/981-16/10002/-1
Looks like they would work on Vortecs, but I wouldn't use them with a roller set-up because they have no where near enough seat pressure. You need something in the 150-160 lbs range at least to keep it from valve floating early.

Well the zz4 springs say 101 lbs at installed height so wtf? I see what your saying, it's all confusing since nothing works perfect and you gotta find a system with the LEAST amount of down sides.....I'll probly go with the zz4 spring and retainers and a lunati voodoo cam.

I have no valve float with the roller cam and the ZZ4 springs. The ZZ4 springs were designed to be used with the roller cam in a performance engine
