Leave it to the new guy to bumpity a old thread.. figured ide show mine
..and a little History, Prior to G bodys I was into First gen Camaros(had 4) and V8 Vegas(had 3) But Ive owned this car since 1989, it was a 6cyl,manual trans car, originally light blue interior and light blue body. Then In 1990, I put a mild 500hp 454 and Th400 in it, painted it white, and put a dark blue interior in it, and drove it for a few years with the stock rear, about 20 years ago i put a 12 bolt from a 67 Chevelle in it, but kinda lost interest with it.
I kept the wagon But, In 1994, I built a new car, A 1981 2dr Malibu Race Car 10.5" tire car, back when that was a big thing, I raced Local street car classes and traveled to some NMCA races where i ran in Super Street, that car ran 9.20's with a Nitroused 509" BBC, even though that was great at the Local level, The top dogs in NMCA at the time, like Spiro Pappas and Chuck Samuals had me covered by almost a full second. but i learned a lot, like my pockets werent deep enough to race heads up with a 10.5 tire car!
Sold that 81 Malibu in 1997, and built a new car to go Nostalgia Drag racing, a 41 Willys Coupe(clue in my user Name) which i still have and race, its a 7 second monster, but I wont bore you with that, Anyways, last winter I turned my attention back to my Wagon, it still has the 454 ,
I built 26 years ago, really 26 years! yep its been that long!, So this past winter I just installed a Built 4L80-e with a billet converter, controlled by a CompUShift controller, Rebuilt the front end, added TRZ front control arms, Braced the chassis rear control arm mounting areas, and I Have all new UMI suspension stuff in the back with QA-1 shocks and A body rear springs. Putting that trans in was the best thing ive done to the car, it really made it, so i can drive it and enjoy it a lot more, and i have been. This year(winter) im building a new bullet, No LS for me, theyre ok but..ehh theyre just ok..i just helped a buddy with a 598" pump gas motor we put in his Chevelle, it made a tick over 800 N/A on the dyno on pump gas, think im going to do the same thing for my car..i may tone it down a little..as i want it to be more drivable so 700hp should be good yeah? LoL So, here it is, not pretty, thats primer, I just added a glass bumper up front as well, and when i get the new motor in and worked out , ill think about pretty, i have some paint ideas, and ima gonna do it right, the body is coming off, I just bought a rotisserie too!
