The answer in most cases is 10% of there offer, but do not tell them till they settle on a number in writing. If they ask for a lot more say no, remember you have just as much right to this negotiation as they do so be strong.

You need to get your own or 2 estimates on what the repair would cost, then 10% from that to keep your car.
