Welding Tips and Tricks.

Let's not forget acetylene torch brazing. Dissimilar metals and hard-to-weld stuff like cast iron can be joined by brazing. I extended the fork tubes on a scooter using 1" diameter stainless steel boat railing brazed to chrome plated steel fork tubes. I used nickel-silver rods and they worked great. Many, many, moons go I also fixed my Wife's big frying pan broken handle using a brass rod to braze it together. 45 years later it is still in use.

They also come in handy for frozen bolts.

This came in today.

The spring strength is pretty serious. Hopefully it adds back what's been lost from the old worn out unit.

Is that for the primeweld?

User review so far?

Might buy myself one as a gift soon...

Nah, for my MIG. It's been a work horse for a long time and this is just another wear item that's never been serviced until it started to fail.

I love having the 225x, it's been a fun tool to learn on. I am getting progressively better at understanding it and how to use it.

Well Dad and I have been looking to get into the tig game for a while and just haven't found a machine thats the right combo of size, capability and cost. Wanted something that can do AC and can be realistically loaded into the back of a vehicle.

Last week a late 90's early 00's era miller econotig came up for sale on FB and a few buyers flaked out so Dad got it. Better price than a new china machine so it should be a decent hobby tig.

The nice thing is that the torch and pedal should work with Dads Miller Maxtron 450 big arse mig machine for DC.

It is kinda a redheaded step child because it has high freq AC but not DC so you have to scratch start DC but not AC, but that's not a huge deal.

I borrowed a freinds argon tank and consumable set and did a couple test beads to check out works. Haven't tigged in 5 years but it comes back!

Any suggestions for good consumable starter kits? Tungsten, back caps, cups, collets?

I have a similar review, once you learn how to use it properly and figure out the vague settings it is a pretty solid machine.

Stuff gets heavy, especially working overhead, find some support.

So I ran into the city to exchange my "M" tank, only problem is they didn't have any left. I had to settle for a "T" tank. Holy crap that was a surprising increase in size (that's what she said),it took two people to load/unload. It is better value for money - especially at the rate I seem to be consuming argon lately.

Where do you go? I've going to Praxair for years, but they only exchange the "Q" tanks. Anything bigger they only do rentals
