Well 454Musle its using up a lot of gas but my brother in law found out there isn't a fuel regulator so its dump fuel you can smell it through the exhaust fumes and see the gas needle go down very fast so the fuel pressure gauge is reading 12lbs of pressure so I ordered a regulator for it but the main thing is I have a holley 600 and a victor Jr intake and they told me to change the carb cause I won't get great mileage with it and the intake isn't suitable for my car cause I'm not running high rpm so they said get a dual plane intake with a Quadrajet so that's where I'm at.
Ok bro first thing you need to do is get that regulator on. Otherwise you're gonna run rich no matter what. It will run better after that but you *should* also change out your intake to have it run correctly for the engine. There are people who will buy your victor junior intake as well, by the way. Put it on Kijiji and craiglist.

Next, if I were you, I'd surely get the carburtor changed. Here is what you need: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/QuadraJe ... 45f74b28ca

And also thats some good info from art by the way.

Thanks for the eBay listing and one question cause I don't know much but learning what edelbrock dual plane intake would you suggest I saw some on eBay that said edelbrock intake for Quadrajet carb there were a few and I don't know what to get I don't want to pick the wrong one.I appreciate the help and info.

Edelbrock Performer intake would be perfectly matched. They are dual plane.

http://www.summitracing.com/search/Bran ... toview=SKU

Now about fitment, whether you need an adaptor plate or not, etc..

The first one on that link/page ^^ it is the "Edelbrock 2101 - Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifolds" it comes with "square/spread bore" and you will see the ebay link to the Qjetit comes with spread bore -- to me that indicates they will bolt up. Make sure the bore is matched up.

I dunno about the other differences like if you need EGR etc.. but double check on all that too.

I found 2 intake on Craigslist 1 is a torker for $75 and the other is $35 but has 1 bolt stripped can download the stripped one

The torker is a high RPM like the vic jr. so I wouldn't do that. The other one, what is it do you know?

thats a single plane, maybe professional products, dart, or weiand? It's similar to what you have now, wouldn't want to do that.

performer or performer rpm is what you're looking for. 750 qjet and if its too much you can take it down

take your time, unless you don't like to find deals there will be something pop up at some point for a steal.
P.S. Edelbrock carburators are a garbage and I will never buy one again.
I feel the same way about the Holleys.

Then you haven't taken the time to learn how to properly set one up and tune it correctly.
They aren't a take it out of the box and you're done carb, but the extra effort is more than worth it.

We had an Edelbrock on the hearse for about 3 hours before it went to sh*t. I'll never buy another.
Sent it back and rebuilt the stock carb.

If you're after great driveability, get a Quadrajet. If you're after maximum performance, get a Holley.

True Blake442... I didn't. Mine went to sh*t out of the box and I had to return and exchange it for another. The replacement one worked fine albeit, it seemed possessed -- at times, at random, for no reason the electric choke kicked in and it would go full throttle for no reason. I said I'd never buy one again because of that experience and also from what other's have reported, mainly, that there are better choices out there like you have suggested (ie. the qjet or holly or demon series etc..).
