What did you do at work today?

My remote office for the weekend, at the globetrotter gathering at Unimog museum in Gaggegnau (that's where all these nice 'Mogs are build). With 38C° outside temperature I'm glad to have A/C in the living box.

Yeah my Mom is in the process of a complete rewire, including getting rid of knob and tube. 6 bedroom house built in 1926. cost nearly 20G! and that was the middle bid!

Wow and I biatched at $2000 in supplies when we bought this house. All Aluminium wiring, 2 storey house built in 1975 / 1976. Drill holes and cut up drywall to convert the basement and main floor to copper, ran the remaining 2nd floor Aluminum in to a sub-panel then the main so nothing but copper on the new panel. Ran GFCI breakers on everything 2nd floor Guess it helps that a lifelong friend is an electrician and works for beers and my wifes cooking.

Looks like I drew the short straw at work. I got stuck polishing out stainless steel props used for mixing cancer drugs. Been at it for nearly 50 hours of labor so far, probably have almost 80 hours into them by the time I'm done. There's a total of nine props on this order. Ugh....

This is the first one that's completely polished out. Eight more to go

Pulled a 14hr shift today. Started by dumping a broken truck so another driver can take it back to the shop at our main yard. Then I did my normal job which would have been 10hrs, and they were hurting to get an extra load hauled out, that added 2-1/2hrs, finally got back and finished up post trip and paperwork. Grand total for today 14-1/4hrs. Going to be nice on the paycheck.

Today was a little different than what I have been doing for the past 8 months. I was informed on Wednesday that all of the drivers who possess a TSA AOA badge would be required to work today. One of our customers is doing work on one of the taxiways at our local airport. AOA stands for Aircraft Operations Area, and is required of anyone who is within the inner fencing of the airport around the airplanes, including baggage handlers, and fuel drivers, virtually every person without an authorized badged escort.

You can see the badge there lying on the dashboard.

About 10-12 of my coworkers are badged. The company paid for the background checks to get us badged so that we could subcontract under other companies for construction work, and also in case we get enough snowfall in the winter to require removal. February 2019 had some significant snowfall in Seattle and I worked four 12hr shifts in a row, plus one hour pretrip/travel, and one hour travel/posttrip each of those four days.
