What did you do at work today?

Well boss made it official this afternoon, I'm laid off at the end of the week!

And an extra kick in the nuts, they are eliminating the shift I work on. So "IF" I ever get called back, it will probably be midnight.

Sorta my work, sorta not.... at least theoretically within my line of work in part even if not paid?

Spent a couple hours today dealing with the wife's HR, preparing FMLA documentation, preparing responses to an increasing number of emails progressively attempting to impose illegal requirements, threatening retaliation, retaliating through issuing unreasonable demands, instituting new duties outside historic job training and requirements without ever having any training but adding a 36hr deadline, attempting to deny valid grounds for leave, so on so forth.

This coming from a workplace that banned n95 mask use while demanding use of lesser masks at employee sole expense, and does not implement basic cdc covid safety recommendations.

Needless to say, workplace conditions and illness escalation have made any nominal salary loss while waiting for improvements (or at least vaccine effectiveness to kick in by end of march) not worth the risks to us.

The one saving grace is while we aren't told it's happened, each time we've escalated the behaviors today to the higher level county officials it *appears* parties are being reprimanded due to changes in what is said next (and how it's said.)

So while there's plenty of aggravation and anxiety, more on the wife than myself, there is some progress being made, albeit small. And LOTS of grounds for retaliation claims, interference with rights, so on so forth. Violations aplenty.

Had to do a run up to a parts/repair vender today in Clearfield today & had to fight the urge to stop at UMI today cause the state would frown on me using the shop truck to do a personal parts run. But now I know where their track is.

My first year partaking in our Field marketing summit. Had Zoom meetings and presentations all day with G.E./ABB Industrial. Acuity Lighting, Leviton, and Thomas and Betts.
It was a great way to start my week even more behind than normal. Good times.
At least I Don't have to Listen to Siemens make about Arc Fault breakers or why a P1 3phase panel is 16 weeks away anymore.

Talked to my boss, and decided to resign, as it's over an hour of a drive now that I've moved, and the fact I will be suspended from driving in March.

Took a long hard look at it, and what it stands for today. I didn't join for this or what it is becoming. Doing some serious soul searching.

I don't blame you one bit, and what better time to do reflecting than during the lockdown rn.

Be objective about it and don't forget to look out for #1 when making those decisions.
