What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

Cost twice as much, makes half as much torque, parts to rebuild it cost twice as much....glad you spared the two 455 engines and your car!
Cost more up front because it's the SP 350. I'd be in the same boat if I bought a stage 1 455. It can make the same power, parts cost the same, if not a little cheaper. With a 455 I'd need custom engine mounts, a new transmission (that won't explode behind a mild 455), possibly a new rear end, etc. Plus all of the good 455s are the same amount of money if not more than what I paid for this. IF you ask any buick guy about buying an SP 350, they'll agree with me that for this specific engine, I got a good deal.

I am a Buick guy, 455 is WAAAAY better. You better ask some Buick guys, I think I planted a seed about a 350 Buick being a direct swap for a 3.8 making it ultra simple, I did one to one of my Regals.

As for mounts, B-body with new holes or genuine A-body reproduction mounts with the same custom holes.

The misconception is that a stock 455 will make more everything than an SP 350, even if you bought an intake and headers....

There is no displacement for cubic inches.

Press on, I wanna see it running.

TMI Alert for those of you who have already heard this story . . .

Well, since I put a 425 C&R in a +.080 F block 455 . . . I'm obviously nuts. You would not believe how many folks back then on various forums were questioning my sanity, genealogy, and a number of other things I cannot even repeat here? But, I knew I wanted a mild, over-square, Olds big block in my 442, naturally aspirated running off of that CCC and rudimentary '87 ECM and just through a set of W/Zs cuz I hate headers. Why? Why not? They make a naturally wider flatter power curve compared to a comparable under square motor of similar CI, rap faster and farther, and there is at least the potential of both fuel efficiency at HW speeds even with a big block and even run it through some high-perf cats to help the environment a bit. Plus you have an engine core that, if you wanna get crazy later on, you can.

So, here's to being nuts or just doing the freakin motor you want to build . . . and, by the way, having it turn out quite freakin well.

Now, if I can just ever never ever get done with my turn and stop project . . . almost have an update ready to post. Almost!
