Tinkering around with a few more parts. Got the flexplate temporarily installed so i can use the holding tool and get the balancer/bolt on as well.
The flexplate will come back off at some point to swap out to ARP hardware then torqued to spec, that way if i need a spacer for the eventual 4l80 & converter i can do it in one shot. Also, i can't torque the flexplate while on the stand due to space limitations.

Nice! I love me some POR15....I've used alot of it on my cutlass, among other projects. The prep process for it is tedious, but the results when followed correctly are amazing!

Found out my "virgin" engine has seen a thing or two. I knew it had the head gaskets replaced with Victor Reinz head gaskets, but the rods have been stamped and it has Clevite 77 bearings. I'm thinking it was a hone and rering & gasket job done sometime in the late70s/early 80s. The engine sat in the guy I got it from's basement since at least '87. Bore is stock 3.800. Also bought a new engine stand. Damn you AC Delco. The bolts the have to attach the 4 arms to the slots in the stand are too long to turn the engine, so I had to cut em off. Is it so hard to include shorter bolts? The bearings looked good, as did the crank. Will be getting new bearings anyway. Factory windage tray intact, so that's good. Also, has anyone ever seen a serviceable mechanical fuel pump like this? It says made in USA and had this part number on it.
