Finally got the wagon running! Didn't take much. Put in the new gas tank & sender, replaced a few crusty hoses & vacuum lines, put on the rebuilt carb, some fresh gas, and fired right up easy-peasy. Trans was pretty dry. Had to put 4 quarts of ATF in her, but once we did that, we took her down the street, and she ran fine! Still can't venture too far from our neighborhood, since it's not technically registered or smogged yet. Need to deal with all that bureaucratic BS next week, but she's running & driving at least!

We tested the sender out of the tank, and the gauge needle was moving up and down. We put about 3.5 gallons of gas in the tank, and the gauge still reads “E” but we’re figuring that’s just a design feature to keep owners from running out of gas. Once I’m able to drive it on the street, planning on putting a full tank in it.

No smokey burnouts? Bahaha!

I took apart the HEI distributor that came with my Buick 350, cleaned it and put it back together. The coil that came on it is junk, and I swear I had a good one laying around but I can't seem to find it. I may end up just buying a new distributor from TA performance since they sell a complete one for only $100, but at least I have this one around as a useable spare anyways.

Does that allow the map lights to still work when the doors are closed via the buttons on the lights?

Wire it in to constant. The map lights don't normally come on with the door unless it's a convertible.

By happenstance, the ones I have used have been from Sunfire/Cavalier 'verts, and they came on with dome, and worked as map lamps witn door closed

You need a turbo on that six! I can't get over how clean your car is. I would leave the out side alone and just add a better drive train. I think that is what you have planned right? Even if it is slow, it is still a really nice car you should be proud of.

Yep. Plan now is to keep exterior pretty much as-is. At first I wanted to do the GN-look, but I think it would be a shame to hack the sheetmetal up too much, considering the condition. Plan is sleeper family truckster. 😎
