Got my reviseified X-pipe painted and wrapped over the weekend.

And after a bit more looking and some test fitting with the old Flowmasters that came with this, I think a pair of offset/offset mufflers will work. But I’m wondering if I should make the connection a V-band connection or keep it a slip fit.

Either way, I think I’m going to get the Gibsons I was looking at in the first place.

did your exhaust system sprain a bend? it's got all that Ace bandage wrapped around it! 😁

I thought that exhaust was floating in mid air until I saw the strings holding it up. I'll blame that on my misspent youth.

Decided to pull the drums and check out the rear brakes on the ‘78 before any Longer than around the block driving. Glad I did, because I never heard a sound from this right rear. The back shoe was down to rivets on one side of the shoe and wore a serious groove in the aluminum drum.

Didn’t have any new parts, but decided to put the steel drums and shoes from the ‘79 on to at least get it mobile again.

New wiper switch and wiper stalk installed. The delay wipers are working for the most part, although I may have to make an interface board to give it the correct signals to work absolutely correctly. I almost forgot how much disassembling and threading wires through a steering column sucks.

Got in some more work making up the 2.5" stainless dual exhaust system on the '80. My welding has improved with a new lighter shade in my welding helmet but I'm still getting used to welding the stainless steel. I'm not thrilled with my results but I'm not completely disgusted either. I'm pretty confident that there won't be any leaks in my welded joints. 🤞 No row of dimes to see here unfortunately but in the end, nobody but me and the guy I run over will ever look at them anyway.

I made up the cross over pipe this weekend and tacked the whole H pipe together under the car. I made a mistake in my clocking of a piece of pipe and it may hang a little lower than I wanted but I don't think it will as bad as I think. See how it looks when it's back on the ground. I made up the 1st bends out of back of the mufflers this evening so that's where it sits now. I'll have to open the garage doors to look from the back to make certain the mufflers are level, snowing out now and I had the heat running so I'll get to that on a nicer evening, no big deal for now.
