It started yesterday and I got the cam break-in done. There are some leaks that I have to track down....but I know it runs and it maintained 80 lbs of oil pressure and the water temp stayed around 200. It fired up in about 3 seconds once all the components were working. Still many details to track down, but this was a big win. I got so excited, while videoing it, I let it run far too long to attach to this site, but it sounded healthy and it leaked out about half a gallon in the 40 minutes or so while I had it running over 3000 rpm/ It is from the back side of the engine somewhere. . I hope it is not intake...but nothing , I mean nothing ever goes my way. I would not pay myself for this rebuild...way too many mistakes!

Look at the back of the motor. There’s a plug that goes In the oil galley. Forgot to do that on my first rebuild. Made a big mess.

Yesterday I put the car out in the driveway, was close to 60 degrees and sunny out. I installed the restored headliner, dome light (hoping it will be reproduced at some point, it's pitted but shined up alright for now) and sun visors. The passenger side now has the lighted vanity rather than the original mirror only that the car came with. The rare view mirror is out of 2010 Impala with dual map lights and back when I installed it I ran a power wire to the passenger side in preparation for the new vanity mirror / sun visor. The visors came out of an '86 Cutlass Salon and were perfect at the time I pulled them but now the material is sagging. I think I'm going to have them recovered when I have the '80 door panels changed over to the '86 Salon pattern. The interior should look pretty nice when everything matches.

Progress, even little is progress. Drivability includes creature comforts as we spend many more hours inside than outside of the car. The makeover of my interior was almost completely so my wife could enjoy it as much as I do. Bench seat was like a park bench, and the buckets are multi adjusting and they hug you. The headliner quiets the racket, and I put in a CD player so she could play her Bonjovi, Buble', Beatles, Bruno and Westlife...finally we are out of the B's!

May be as simple as a heat shield? 🤞As far as the transmission let’s hope it is some kind of adjustment.

Hopefully, but I don't usually have that luck especially since I am pretty sure it is a powermaster. That I am not so sure, my buddy says he has a theory but is waiting to hear what the transmission shop says about it

While you have the fender, off seal those holes in the firewall corners on both sides of the body. They are a major source of water leaks.

Yep, already on the list, along with making new deflectors for the back of the lower windshield molding

Console is functionally done.
Although thankful for the suggestions, I doubt I'll add all kinds of chargers USB ports speakers etc.
I've got a 12v already, and it works.

I just needed something to hold my drinks, tapes, and my elbow.
Little black thing is what I was using. Has a spot for a cb mic and cigarettes. Wonder how old that thing is lol. Came with the car when I got it.

Soon ill paint the inside black and cover it in that short pile speaker carpet stuff. Might make the top lid squishy with foam and vinyl. We'll see.

Slow just means you think over the plan of attack and ease into the process of choosing the right path. Do you use a torch or a sawsall. Will I need a hammer and how big to make it fit 🤣🤣

How did you secure it to the floor? Does your vehicle have the console mounts?

It's just sitting there. I might get the console mounts and mount it that way, but honestly I like being able to remove it quickly. It's hefty enough it doesn't slide around.
Or just a small black L bracket front and back self tapped to the floor.
