What did you do to your G-Body today 2024

After a day of spraying four (yes, 4) spot repairs, I fired it up since reinstalling the engine, and I couldn’t be happier:

850~ rpm and 55psi dead cold? Hell yeah I’ll take that! The thing pushed nearly 90 at 3k though, and that’s with the standard pressure spring 🥴
What weight oil?

Drove it to aldis.
It's weird, when cold I can manually shift it and get all 3 gears instantly and perfectly.
Once it gets good and hot it pretty much loses 2nd and 3rd but first is still there and strong. Reverse is fine as well. In a th350 understand low/Reverse share the same clutch pack yes?

I have a basic 200r4, and I think I'm just gonna buy a converter and a crossmember and use that. Upside is if it works, I get overdrive. Downside if it doesn't work, I waste $600. Big gamble nowadays with my full time job of 6 years is cutting hours and a baby on the way.

Loaded it up on the new trailer and had the wife drive.

Previously she'd driven the plow truck with empty trailer and didn't like it, steering was too sloppy. So another day we tried blue truck and empty trailer. She was fine with that. Today we added the Monte and she was good with that too. So now it's time to get this setup weighed as is, then load it to the gills in anticipation of our impending move. All that really means for the Monte is a 5.3 and some other crap in the trunk, then back in the hangar it goes for another week and a half in case another big hail storm decides to roll through. 'Tis the season for that.

Getting to a point where I really despise this thing. No runs or sags thankfully, but the tarp garage was so hot my clear was laying on dry even with the gun at full volume. Bit of orange peel to clean up on the driver’s side, but should be fine after an initial cut with 1200.

Then on to the trim.

It’s weird getting close to visualizing this little homemade render. Never thought I’d actually get this far.

Had my mechanic weld it on the wrong side so had to take it back apart and was running it for the weekend with a piece of wood under it. Hopefully today he welds them on the other side so that it holds it in there better, was a little crooked for my taste

Got back from a week away at the beach house, finding that the life of leisure agrees with me just fine when I’m there. Personal best, read three books.

Got some time in the garage this morning and a little more this afternoon. I got two wheels ready for primer (after a good cleaning) but too humid to spray it. Hopefully get it done a night after work this week. The other pair are painted already so they will get scuffed up and all 4 painted together. I had two 15” and two 14” wheels painted 25 years ago in the factory color but i changed my mind about the 15”s and want to be sure all four match proper. Ended up sand blasting around the lug nut holes because of some flash rust over the years. Beyond that they are clean.

Was going to install the last of my interior moldings but ordered the wrong clips. Got them coming from Mike’s Monte’s this week.
