What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2020]

I went out to the building this afternoon and stuck the tailgate together for the rig . Came out good simple and effective. I couldn't weld it on because I still don't have my truck so I couldn't get it by the door.

Tomorrow when I go back I'll finish welding it and install it but I set it on there for now

For latches I decided to keep it simple and use cat1 3 point pins

Then I went home and broke my little John Deere mower so I guess that comes first tomorrow

I think I got this finished up.

New MDT XRS stock on my 223 target build.
Kreiger 8 twist barrel, custom 223 rem chamber.
RB-1 trigger
Savage donor action
Sightron SIII 6-24x50. LRMOA reticle.

Shoots into the 3s and has no problem going to a mile.

Canadia allows that? Soooo scarrrry!

Some of the ground around the house settled over the last 2 months from our drain tile project for the basement so ran to the dirt place and bought yard of black dirt. Needed to re backslope part of the house.

Bought some 1x12's and made a little slide in tail gate for the trailer to use as side boards and threw a tarp on the bottom to hold the dirt.

$25 for 2000ish lbs of soil that I hauled sure beats the delivery fee.

Nice use of the tarp. I've hauled with the Wife's 5.3 Envoy as well. At this altitude it does OK, but really could a 6L80 to make use of its power. Back in MI it was great, I'm sure that thing hauled the dirt no problemo in MN.

Personally, I've been horsing around with the AIM Analysis software of late. It's powerful stuff. I compared a rookie lap to mine to help him on his quest to being less slow. Unfortunately, the only session we nabbed of mine was qual on garbage tires. When I came in 2 were corded and I'd flat spotted the crap out of the right front so had to put on less bad tires. Reason I was trying to race garbage is no fast guys showed up, so I attempted to pinch pennies. That lasted for all of warmup and qual. All the better, those tires f'in sucked donkey balls. I was basically fighting for my life out there. You can see it in action on a couple of corners where I go in hot, get on the gas, float, then mat it again and lose my *ss. I should have been doing this EONS ago. It is so educational to see how one little fvck up costs a tenth or 2 or 3. I've taken pole by .001 before, so a tenth between 2 corners is basically an eternity. Behold my run at a better qual lap that vanishes in the 2nd half.

The mind is made up, I'm getting an AIM Solo2 DL despite my lack of OBDII in anticipation of an OBDII 5.3 swap that might happen next winter. This winter I aspire to fix the trans in my C5Z along with new diff clutches, new torque tube bearings/guibos, rebalanced clutch, and mid sized cam install. For now the LT1 keeps ripping *ss and giving up nothing to the LS1s so I'll focus on the big nuggets until then.

Yeah I've pulled g bodies on trailers with the thing and totally, it's got the power but the trans is the short coming.

Yeah I feel like gm not putting the 6l80 into the gmt360 chassis was a big mistake but the trans didn't appear until 09 and the chassis ended in 09 so it didn't surprise me.

I want to replace this Rainier since it has 260k+ and is starting to rot out but the damn thing does everything I need it too and is too cheap to operate/fix that it's hard to justify. GM replaced the chassis with a fwd v6 POS and it takes 12 grand+ to get a 6l80 gmt800 Tahoe that's not wasted. An expedition in similar year is also a 5.4 POS and a Durango/commander is well a dodge and again a turd. I'd consider a replacement of a 14+ hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee to be equal or better than the Rainier but again it's 14g+ for one that's not wasted thats still going to need all the suspension work mine needs but I'm also going to have to worry about mds/dod lifters. Plus I've heard they focused on luxury over utility in the newest body style and you can't haul a 4x4 in the hatch anymore so that's almost a total ignore.

I'm really tempted to get a 07+ Denali or Saab 360 with low miles and do the 6l80 swap since the pcm after 07 can run a 6l80 but that's a lot of investment time and effort for a 12 year old daily bomber.

You ever boost one of them sumbitches?

No, I've seen a few of the nitrous build race saws cutting square cants at some of the GTGs, they cut stupid fast but they are strictly for race purposes. You can get huge gains out of good port work and increasing compression by cutting the cylinder down or deleting the base gasket. I like saws I can tinker with then actually go and put them to work. My 359 is one of my favorites.

Man I'll tell when these old *ss rigs have zero rust that trans upgrade is all the more tempting. Mine has less than zero rot, so if the 4L60 does give up the ghost it's unlikely to get rebuilt and reinstalled. Especially being an 07.
