It's nothing fancy but I just went over it for inspection and it has 4 literally brand new tires on it and new intake gaskets and some recent body repair. I love the 3800 engines. For now I'm gonna use it around town and to drive to work and school and keep the miles down on my truck.
How long until things like changing the size on the SC pulley and such start to happen....

Cough, cough...LS4...cough.

With the added bonus of keeping a buick motor in a buick. Which no ls4 would ever be.
Ironically the L32 Series 3 Supercharged 3800 never came in a Buick. Only came in Pontiac Grand Prixs from the mid-late 00s.

But really I just plain like the 3800. They have a distinct sound, especially at startup that I'm fond of. This one is a Series III which was the final and (IMO) best revision. They had a long production run and are stupid simple. The most complicated part is all the goofy accessory brackets GM used as a result of it being used in so many applications for so long.

My grandpap wasn't a car guy at all but he liked the GM 3800. He had 3 or 4 cars with them.

Had a 99 Pontiac GTP with the SC 3800. Great car, sold it to my oldest son. He actually paid me for it book value. I forgave his last payment.

Still a buick engine in my eyes, regardless of what it came in. Just like a sbc 350 is still a Chevy engine, even if it came out of a firebird. And a 307 out of a regal is always an Olds power plant. 😉
