What did you do to your non g-body project today [2025 edition]

Yeah, I can't believe the rust y'all have to deal with!

Replaced the rear pinion seal in my F-150 earlier this past week, as well as the rear shocks. Went with Bilstein 5100s. Huge improvement in ride quality. Ride is firmer, although not uncomfortably so, and more controlled.

I also ordered new wiper arms for it from the dealer. The splines on mine seem to be loose and are causing the wipers to judder.

It's got 244,000 miles and I bet it's been a plow truck at least since the mid 90s. All in all, its not that bad. My 76 f250 with half the milage was way worse.

Found this on the curb down the street. Battery is missing, but it works with my drill battery.
Lil man likes it. Can't reach the pedals yet tho.

I get it. I just live in a different world. My 08 Sierra has 235,000 miles on it and not a spec of rust. My brother's 02 Sierra has over 200,000 miles and not a spec of rust on it. Both have lived outside the vast majority of the time. I don't envy y'all with what winter does to your cars.

Exactly. I had 2x offers to advance within my company when we built new plants. First was Wooster Ohio & 2nd was Boone Iowa. As a car guy, I opted to remain in Texas 😎

The trucks seem to get it the worst. I think it has a lot to do with the construction and the shape of the bodies creates a lot of places for dirt, salt and moisture to get trapped versus a car or SUV. On top of the fact that they are just commonly used for work.

Fluid Film (or similar) every year or every other year is the best solution I’ve found.

Fixed the bed mount, the frame I thinking just gonna clean it up and put a plate over the backside. Weld it and bolt it perhaps. Idk what will get skewed if I remove brackets.

I wouldn’t remove any brackets. Make the plate overlap your hole, turn your welder up to 11 and burn it in from the back. You can even weld from the front at the edges of the rust hole to try to seal it up and get a bit more hold on it.
