What did you do to your non-G Body project today [2024 edition]

That's one thing I need to look into, a meat grinder. I've got some deer left over in my freezer from last year, had to cut up the stuff I couldn't get good full cuts into stew meat chunks because I didn't have a grinder to mix it with some pork sausage. Basically that small left over stuff you'd grind. It'll go in the crock pot eventually as it is.

Took mom's Outback and had four new tires put on it. The Falken Wildpeak AT3s were down to about 2-3/32" and it was time. They lasted over 40k and were pretty good tires. Costco had the best deal for new tires, Michelin Defender 2 All Seasons. They have an 80k mile pro-rated warranty.

Brought it home and did an oil change on it. Used Supertech 0W-20 a Fram Synthetic Endurance filter which are supposed to be one of the better-constructed spin-on filters available. Fram rates it for 25k miles, though it won't see more than 6k. When I had the valve covers off last year the engine was spotless, but it has started to consume a quart or so between changes. I've just been keeping an eye on the level and topping off as needed.

Or Scoobie Doo’s as I like to call them.

Silly Subaru and their upside-down filters.
My Venza came with a pretty fresh set of Defenders on it. No paperwork in the glove box, but good to know they have a decent tread life.

...and the Skylark?
Unconventional design but at least it's accessible and the mess stays contained to the filter housing. The Michelins had great reviews and Costco had them on sale with free installation which made them by far the best deal for a name brand tire. Tire prices are outrageous.

I'm still a bit temp/weather restricted on the Skylark but should have a small update inbound this week.

My experience with Michelins is that they have both good traction and long tread wear, usually opposites. But, don't let them sit in the sun at elevation. The UV makes the sidewalls start to crack long before the tread thins out.

For those that log a lot of miles weekly, you are golden...
