Saw that catch tank and before I noticed the beer label thought propane tank. Profile is similar. "Grumpy Oriental Man in his housecoat" dude was probably sound asleep and his wife elbowed him in the ribs to "wok" him up and get him to answer the door instead of her doing it. Women cannot abide seeing a man comfortable and happy; they are genetically hard wired to do all in their power to make us miserable.

Last post on the new air compressor, I swear. More or less just to post a link to those that want to hear it running, and see how quickly it makes air.
Linking to a post on Instagram I did because, well, it’s just easier than YouTube. (You shouldn’t have to be on IG to be able to view the video).

Am I correct in my understanding that piston style compressors kick on and off as it sees demand, where as screw style compressors are always running they just bypass the tank and vent to atmosphere when there is no demand for air?

Yes, but they don't vent to atmosphere, they block the intake. Don't ask me why. Donovan knows more about them than I do.

Yes and no. Correct on how recip compressors work, but screw compressors will still shut off/go into a standby mode if there is no demand. Almost all screw compressors will have an idle timer of some sort, they will run on idle before eventually shutting down and going into standby. See below the next quote for what happens when the compressor is up to pressure.

Correct Shawn. The inlet valve that allows air in to be compressed is closed during the idle period so it’s not pulling in volume to compress. The lobes of the rotors are literally just sitting there spinning but not doing anything. Then when the pressure switch calls for it to load, a solenoid closes off the blow down line and commands the inlet valve to open, completing the circuit and allowing air to be compressed.

Picked up a couple of blue poly-plastic tote boxes at the Big box car parts store and did some sorting and tagging of stuff by way of cleaning (LOL) up the place. Wrote on the lid what had been put into the tote to make it easier to identify stuff when my memory goes into reboot on me.
I work for a parts store, I have a SHITTON of the plastic totes. They are awesome and very durable.

I am looking at this for both the mechanical room (master bedroom is directly over it) in the house and the alcove where the compressor is in the shop:

At my old job we used to sell a product called Greenglue you could use it for laminating 2 sheets of 5/8 drywall and it was very effective. Could be an option for you.
