What did you do to your shop today?

would suck to have to replace a (presumably) perfectly functional garage door opener. But I got the jackshaft type for my garage and man, those are so nice and quite

Yeah, it's all new stuff. Shame if it happens. We are going to centre the lift so that it goes between the guide rail and the motor. In all honesty I really am not opposed to just taking it off and opening the door handraulically.

$900+ tax for a wall mount unit. Ouch.

I have a sh*t ton (metric)of these tote from 2 different automotive retailers that I have and currently work at. They Are AWESOME. you can store anything in them and stack em up!

Would a door lift be doable/cheaper?

Ran out of C-15 for the Mig yesterday. So yesterday slightly later I pulled my custom built wheeler ought of its resting place, disconnected the gauges from the tank and strapped the empty to my hauler. This AM moved the corpse out to the front drive and loaded it into the truck box. Stopped at a local tool whatnot shop and scored some furniture movers and a couple of pairs of ratchet straps and then headed over to the Industrial Supply Shop.

They had a fresh tank of C-15 waiting for me and while I was there, I elected to pick up a flow meter set up for the tank and use that instead of gauges. Basically, once you get it set, it stays at that exact flow rate, the little ball in the tube floats along merrily and you don't have to periodically check the gauge like you do with a regular two gauge set up.

Mounted the tank on the welder trolley and chained it down, added the flow meter, made the feed connections and barked the whole shebang up and set the flow. Won't get to try it out until the weekend; Friday is plumbing day. Have the plumbers coming in to replace the main pump in my sump pit and add in a battery backup to the new pump JIC. Colorado refuses to stop exporting rain storms and the ground here is still half frozen and unable to absorb the downfall. Only joy in all this is that the river is low and can take in the drop but it has to get there which complicates things.

Did manage to get into my cold storage shed; surprisingly the doors actually slid open. Both roof perlings are badly deformed. The butcher's bill for this job is going to be 200.00 plus, just for the angle, plate, and tube to fabricate and sister in components to re-enforce the existing pieces. The snow load was just too much on too small a square area and just squashed the roof down.

That better include installation. I paid ~$500 for the Liftmaster 8500. Still not free though

Hit the Home Despot and scored some 2" x 8" x 8' studs as well as a single 2" x 6" x 9'. Had the plumber in this AM to swap in a new sump pump and move the old one to the stand by position as well as plumb in a battery driven unit for JIC. Now I have to put my carpenter's apron back on and cut the studs to size to create the end walls for a shelf on which to put the battery and its charger/baby sitter. Since the battery is a Marine Deep Cycle, it weighs; two of them and I would have my own weight set for doing curls. Right now it is sitting in the shop, on a dolly, getting some zottage from my Battery Tender Plus. It will probably need a day or of charger time so to go green; sitting on a shelf and waiting for a buyer this time of year is a recipe calculated to let a battery discharge even if not doing anything. Batteries say the mfgr's, do tend to naturally lose their charge at the rate of about 1% per day or so if just sitting. So tomorrow I reset the saw deck and start making sawdust again.
