What did you do to your shop today?

Nick laid it out in his post. Still sounds weird. They lose all points garnered for putting gravy on their fries with this sin.
Oh but the gravy and cheese on fries are soooo good. Homemade fries is better. poutine Is becoming a hit at fairs in New England. 🤤
But vinegar and pepper potato chips or vinegar splashed on fries is a certain preference. Kind of like Moxie 🤢I tried Moxie twice and it’s not for me!

Huh! You must live in a state or region that has had people come in and look for the stuff although it is used in pickling veggies so there is that. As for french fries, no, not as a dip, more done like applying salt to them. There is a dedicated name for the bottle or table container; "Cruet" is the term. More common to call it a dispenser and they mostly look like the picture below.

I have also seen people repurpose the squeeze bottles that mustard comes in, or use an old glass and metal salt shaker; might have to increase the size of the holes in the top to get the liquid to pass through.

Method of application is about the same as putting salt on them; grab the dispenser and shake the stuff out onto the taters.

The main ingredient in vinegar is acetic acid and vinegar itself can be made from a whole lot of things

Types of vinegar

So if you want to try the stuff, as you say, head down to your local grocery, or maybe do a dinner run to a restaurant or kebab joint that uses the stuff and try it that way. Oh, and I said hardware stores because they sell it for use in etching metal and as a mild acid. Need to read the label for that.

they got the fancy vinegars and the straight old vinegar. I use the 9% for cleaning shower

Gravy and cheese on french fries is a culinary abomination that is peculiar to the Quebecoise. They call it "Poutine" Comedienne Sherry Shepherd expressed it best when she opined that "Dey call it poutine cause when you eat it you'll be pootin' all night!" The stuff ranks right down there with frogs legs and haggis for nastiness. JMPP.

As for spraying vinegar on fries, it would have to be some kind of small hand held trigger type pump sprayer like NAPA carries. It is actually not a bad idea, only that it would be messy on the "mist" setting and too much of a good thing on "stream". Maybe if the nozzle cap is adjustable you could turn the volume down. Something to think about.

in a dietetic group meeting about 10 yrs ago, one of the members volunteered that instead of just pouring dressing on top, they kept salad dressing calories down by dipping the fork in the dressing and then sticking it in the lettuce. just enough dressing on the fork to give it taste. do you eat your fries with a fork?

ok, but again, how do you apply it? dip the fries in it? spray the fries with a spray bottle of vinegar?

my wife is Mexican and puts mayonnaise and chili powder on her corn-on-the-cob :puke: . but how do you do vinegar and fries?
Usually out of laziness ill dip them. Lets me determine how strong of vinegar taste. Dip em just like its ketchup, get as much as you like.

All depends on how filthy my fingers are! LOL. Seen them picked by hand, by fork, by martini glass olive spear, toothpick, and even with chopsticks. You can even whittle a skinny length of tree twig down and do it like you'd do s'mores.

Side bar to this, the best finger food for cleaning dirty hands used to be KFC; Kentucky Fried Chicken. The grease from the finish frying worked great for that. Didn't seem to affect the taste of the stuff.
