Ok So i contacted him and asked what work was done. Said he did Body Mounts from firewall back, replaced frame rails, replaced upper control arm frame out driver side, and had a custome built 100 amp alternator

Said it needs front driver seat repair, inside for mounting, outside bracket going to floor? Also said the brakes are squishy until you pump them up. So im guessing there is just air in them. What do you guys think? Stay away or is it worth checking out? When i first looked at it last year i didnt know what i was looking for, but now that i have knowledge under me i feel more confortable

it the car is on the road I have a couple of clients who own repair shops in Cambridge and you can get them to do a pre-safety inspection. That'll give you an idea on what it needs and what the frame and underside look like.

Well he says right now its not because its winter and he doesnt drive it in the winter. He said i could take it around the block though. Im going to school for a Mechanic Apprenticeship so i have a decent amount of knowledge right now. I Know what goes bad on these cars and ill be sure to check it out. Im going to tommorow to take a quick look since its pretty close to my college 🙂

you get a better view of it on a lift but you know best I guess

Obviously , can't beat getting to look at a car on a lift, but I can always take it to the shop I work at in Milton or to my school .

Ok so just got back from taking a look at it. The car was pretty Mint except for the interior which isnt a whole big deal. He said the frame rails were redone from Conrad 8) At the same time Conrad was doing the rails he did the Body Mounts as well. The car look pretty solid all around, no rust except for 1 tiny spot on top of the drive door, The landeau roof was Mint, no rot what soever. The engine was a bit dirty, valve covers were pretty rusty and same with the air cleaner a bit. Also to start the car you dont need a key, he said that the tumblers were worn out int he ignition cylinder but he did have the keys for it. Had all the gauges, power windows and he still had the orginal radio. Trunk Pop Worked aswell. In the trunk when Conrad replaced the frame Rails, he also welded in a new part of the trunk on the Driver Side. With the brakes, when i pumped them up with the car off they were hard, as usual, but when i started the car and pumped them, i wouldnt say they were going to the floor but the pedal would go pretty low but as you pumped it up it became stiffer but then would sink again. He said something with the master cylinder was leaking, does that sound like air in the lines? All in all its not too bad of a car, but i dont think i would pay 2500 for it. What do you guys think of what ive told you 🙂

Sounds pretty decent. how much did you pay for your first monte. It dosent seem like to bad of a bang for the buck you cant expect a perfect car for 1000$ plus you are a mechanic you should look forward to a car like this.

I Paid 1200 for my first 8) It doesnt seem too bad, but im thinking the interior is going to be hard to come by. Also it was a Bench seat and the driver side mount was broken. Also this model is The Classic Landeau? He said they only made them one year, anyone have a clue? Also seems like he painted the calipers and drums blue :blam: they look so Dumb

Sounds just a little better condition than a car I paid $1500 for. Tell him to meet you in the middle

PS - a thief's profit margin is 100% since he doesn't pay rent/ over-head. Don't ever put "my car starts without a key" on a public forum bc for every person who logs in daily & identifies themself there are 9 others lurking who never make an account/ log in so you never know who is watching. Just some friendly advice

You shouldnt have sold your first one.
Tell me about it 😛 ive heard that saying for a long time! Well if i do buy this then the first thing to fix would be the key but i dont know how to identify why it does that 😛
