i have grown up around classic cars and well alot of gbodys as i am only 17 and my first car is a gbody and i have to say the gbody is a great platform from autocross to drag racing but i have found somethings that are just kinda annoying like Rust and the heater box but coming from my generation i rather have that old gbody that people look at and say it is just old and junk then new junk

What's there to hate about G-bodies, you like them or you don't and for a car that is 30+ years old it has a hell of a following. If there is something I don't like about the G bodies is the regulations the government put on them. They were the stepping stones for the computerized management systems and you know how far that has developed. A lot of you wanted more performance but there was a lot of factors that went into killing that. The 60's - early 70's was the HP hay days which I was part of (yes an old fart) The manufactures got on board with what people wanted because there was money to be made and you could just about order anything from the factory. The insurance companies jacked up the rates on these muscle cars that made it prohibitive to insure and own - I know I couldn't. Then the early 70's brought the oil crisis and people couldn't afford to feed them let alone the start of emissions. With no demands and emissions to meet the manufactures went to where the money was. I think the G body was a great platform that appealed to everyone, those that wanted performance made it happen. I think we can thank a lot of the roundy round racing and the cash for clunkers for much of their disappearance. I wish the prices of these cars would start reflecting what we put in them.

i guess i should reword it What dont you like about gbodys so things from rust to a bolt that you cant get a socket on because gm put something infront of it

I don't like the special 3/4 speed shifter location. You can't directly swap any other manual without cutting the floors up, and the bench seat and shifter are too close after the swap. To me all the special clutch parts don't matter because I'm using a hydraulic throw out bearing setup.

Everytime I need a replacement part it is usually discontinued just the year before I needed it. It is scary how few replacement parts they still make.
Very true i just went into an auto zone to buy a rear axle seal and with no doubt in my mind i thought i would walk out with one, turns out they don't even carry them anymore...most people carry generic GM stuff now nothing too specific. I know Jegs & Summit are my friends!
I don't know where you guys are shopping, but I can walk into my neighborhood CarQuest and get just about anything I need.
What they don't have in stock can usually be at the store the following day.

What I hate is when I see a decent looking car for sale, only to look under the hood and see that someone removed the heater/ac box.

There isn't anything I hate about these cars. Some features and options aren't for me but it's not a cars fault that some people liked fender mount turn indicators....
I grew up with them and they have always been my favorite cars. Back when these cars were still newer I could see where things were going with cars and I though these would be the last of the V8 RWD cars.(besides the Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds) With that in mind I have just always ignored the minor things.
I even felt a little nostalsia when I took my current Cutlass for the first ride and rolled the window down and back up just to be sure it got stuck outside the clip at 50 mph...
As the years roll by even some of the things I didn't like styling wise are growing on me.
I've had 455's and 425's in 78-80 Cutlasses with AC and never had an issue with the AC box. Fitment issues when using a big block aren't bad and there are work arounds to it.
Most real issues these cars have are age related. They have survived longer than intended and were very reliable cars in their day.

Try asking them for a new charcoal can, AIR diverter valve, aircleaner cold air intake hose, E4ME adjusting tools, dual snorkel air cleaner, quarter windows, rear glass, or a stripped lean stop repair kit. Nobody carries these parts or even makes them anymore and that's just the tip.

Rock Auto has many of those parts.
