what do you hate about gbodys

The plastic/rubber filler panels around the bumpers, especially on the earlier models. They never fit great, rubbed up against the bumpers or had gaps, then cracked anyways once you tried to repaint them even with flex agent. I'm eliminating as many of them as I can this time around.

Hate that the frame rails, trunk seams and lower door edges rust out. I must be getting older because I remember when you could find just about any parts for these in the part stores. There was also a time when they were plentiful in junkyards, not so much anymore.

There isn't anything I hate about these cars. Some features and options aren't for me but it's not a cars fault that some people liked fender mount turn indicators....
I grew up with them and they have always been my favorite cars. Back when these cars were still newer I could see where things were going with cars and I though these would be the last of the V8 RWD cars.(besides the Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds) With that in mind I have just always ignored the minor things.
I even felt a little nostalsia when I took my current Cutlass for the first ride and rolled the window down and back up just to be sure it got stuck outside the clip at 50 mph...
As the years roll by even some of the things I didn't like styling wise are growing on me.
I've had 455's and 425's in 78-80 Cutlasses with AC and never had an issue with the AC box. Fitment issues when using a big block aren't bad and there are work arounds to it.
Most real issues these cars have are age related. They have survived longer than intended and were very reliable cars in their day.

There always something we'd like to change about our cars. Im really into this forum because people throw their own style and money into them, totally destroying the original aesthetics and performance in order to achieve something better. But one thing is for sure these cars are one of the last rwd full frame cars that came with carbed v8's in the USA.

Same here. Are you doing a bumper tuck or a roll pan? I cant seem to find any posts about a front bumper tuck for a gp on here

Bumper tuck for sure, but on a Cutlass. Sorry mate!

I like that look and If i had another grill i feel like id go that route have you seen anybody flush a bumper on a 78-80?

I have not seen any flushed GP bumpers. I not sure but I think when you flush a bumper you need to pull the sides in too so I think it would be hard to cut GP bumper with it's shape

Try asking them for a new charcoal can, AIR diverter valve, aircleaner cold air intake hose, E4ME adjusting tools, dual snorkel air cleaner, quarter windows, rear glass, or a stripped lean stop repair kit. Nobody carries these parts or even makes them anymore and that's just the tip.

Nobody carries charcoal canisters because you're not supposed to replace them, just the charcoal filter at the bottom.
As for dual snorkel air cleaners, I just don't understand why you'd expect these to be readily available as a new replacement part.
Just like the canister it was never intended to be replaced. You're just supposed to throw out the filter, not the whole assembly that contains it.
Those other things not being available are what happens when you own a 30 year old car. Supply dries up.

The way you constantly complain about not being able to get parts for your Regal, which has the best aftermarket support of all the G-body models, makes me think that you should just sell it and get something new. That way you can just stroll into your dealership and get whatever you want. Otherwise, it's time to learn how to use the junkyard like the rest of us...
